I know I am asking the impossible here but the posters in his section of PH seem to know more about these things.

How much do you think an early V8 R8 will be worth in about a year?
Has the depreciation curve levelled out now do you think or does it still have a way to go?

Thanks

Friend just bought an 07 car about 6 months few months ago - paid about 54k .. wanted to trade it in for a 997.2 TT - trades bids were 41k-46k ..so I think they will continue to fall. There are a lot of sale at the moment which don't seem to be shifting which is probably hurting values. Plus for the money, there are a lot of other options to consider as well.

Think they will therefore continue to fall significantly - with the V10 perhaps holding up better. If (when?) they drop to about the 50/50k mark I would have one as the everyday car though ..

I don't think its a long way off being a sub £50k car, and when it starts to break sub £50k it will rapidly become a £40k car IMHO.

Well £54k into £46k over six months is just a bit of normal depreciation plus a dealer margin.

Any prediction of depreciation over 12 months has to be based on where you bought the car from. If you buy it it auction then I would guess c£7k, if you buy it at an Audi dealer then I would guess c£12k.

Just paid £65K for mine - 08 plate.

"Apparently" since the V10 came out, this has helped the V8 market?

I'll let you decide if that's bullst or not.

hehe

I think cars bottom out at 12 years old. Considering Bentley Conti GTs are occasionally up for £29,995 I think R8 still have a long way to drop. 12 months time, maybe £40k. Only my opinion of course.

Paid 84k for a 6k 2010 V10
I would imagine that it will be 75/77k next year & 68/70k the following year..
An 84k 430/997TT would fair about the same IMO
Gallardo's are holding up better due to fewer numbers & many going abroad..

Buying a 55/60k R8 will see you with a 40k car within 18/24 months IMO

They will still depreciate, but quite slowly .The comment about them being a lot about is true, but then that applies to everything, nothing is selling that i can see.Been watching various cars and I am seeing cars some dealers have had for 7-8 months,in fact some go back to when I changed my car in may 2010...dealers still carrying the same cars.
Thoroughly reccomend one, best daily drive sportscar out there.Chassis is just a work of genius.

I love the r8s massively, but the r tronic is st.Terrible gearbox, not even an option when the manual is so good on it.
And be careful ,there's been a few spyders at £85k so £105k looks ott to me.

I agree (well almost). I think that they tend to bottom out at around 15 years, but the depreciation between years 12 & 15 isn't going to be much. Believe me, they will keep falling for a good while yet.

Brilliant car. Particularly love the V8 with a manual box. Comfortable, reliable, wife loves it - but luggage space a little small, so make sure you pack light.
One way to look at it is: will a £50k R8 depreciate more or less than a £50k new car like an Audi A6 or similar after 2 years? I'd put the money on the R8 - but make sure you buy at a good price and get one in a colour and spec you can sell on.

Posts from 6 years ago saying these R8's were going for circa £65k and now they're holding at £45k.

£20k over 6 years is £280 per month in depreciation, not too bad at all.

Impossible question I appreciate but what are the prices set to look like in, say, another four years or so? Some of these cars will be 14 years old by that point, is there anything we have to compare it to?

Have they bottomed out now?

Edit - sorry for the necro, too.
