Lotus unveils Evora GTE 'By Swizz Beatz'

Everybody cries 'It's a Swizz' as Lotus unveils special edition Evora

Music producer Swizz Beatz has obviously been putting the hours in for his new job at Lotus, as he and Lotus CEO Dany Bahar have unveiled the first fruit of their creative union.

Which is? A, er, red chrome-look version of the new Evora GTE, which possibly even a wrap. That's it.

On the face of it, that seems a bit rubbish, but when you think about it it's almost certainly a good thing. This is because the 444hp V6-powered Evora GTE, with its sequential gearbox, lightweight forged alloy rims with centre lock hubs, Pirelli P-Zero Corsa tyres and status as the most powerful production Lotus road car ever built, is otherwise unchanged.

And because the GTE will almost certainly be a blinder (if our drive of the GT4 racer is anything to go by), the fact that Swizz hasn't meddled with the mechanicals bothers us not one jot...

Pathetic attempts at marketing by appealing to a segment that probably doesn't exist?

I mean, are GT3-level buyers really likely to be impressed by a link-up with "Swizz Beats"? (who he?)

That said, the GTE sounds superb - the Evora that's been critically lauded, but with 444bhp? Yes please smile

At a wild guess people under 30 with high disposable income.

Car looks fantastic in its own right in GTE form & I hate this association with some random music producer, but dare I say it in the US, association with rapers/music videos buys a lot of sales success, look what happened to Bentley after early Azure's featured alongside Jay-Z.

Mr.CarCoach.

Absolutely agree. It's difficult to understand why Lotus are being so obtuse about producing an Evora people might actually buy.

The front of the current Evora is simply rubbish - it desperately needs that GTE front end.
The back of the current Evora is OK, if nothing special, and sticking a daft wing on it wrecks the car.
The standard Evora colour chart may be dull, dull, dull but personally I'd keep Mr Beatz well away.

Not sure what this Swizz Beats business is all about, but that is a mighty fine motor.

I'm utterly baffled by that video.

Are Lotus actively trying to sell to the trustafarian market?
