I always use allen keys and a pair of pliers to grip both of them, usually no problem.

Sometimes only way is to take wheel off and strike with a hammer lightly from behind. With mine that is Ony way they come off. So tight probably due to wheel refurb in the past adding extra paint where it shouldn't be possibly. I have now sanded some of this away but still tight.

Isn't there a little tool in the tool kit for this?* Stick through the holes in the centre cap (assuming they are originals with the holes, otherwise you're stuffed!) and pull?
  • [on second thoughts- I use the wheel nut cover removal tool from my VW golf. But you can buy centre cap removal tools...]

Agreed, sometimes they can be stuck in there quite tightly and you need to take the wheels off and tap from behind.
