I sent you an email Eric as you were my first port of call but never got a response. I used the email in your profile on here. Is that right?

If you could let me have some contact details then we can get things going.

Mine are doug@g19engineering.com or 07886 005962

Thanks,

Doug.

Yep - who needs to know anything about boring stuff like tax law and double entry accounting systems.

My local Tax Assist franchise has a big shop fronted place with flashy looking signs and nice interior. I know the rent on the mirror unit across the road is 20k pa and there is only ever one guy sat in the tax assist office. I cant help but think how a big chunk of my inflated bill would be going towards this and not actually be for the cost of an experienced person spending time on my accounts.

http://www.rhp-partnership.co.uk - Norwich based, highly recommended by me. Have been working with them for nigh on 10 years.

Thread revival...

I am based in Norwich and my business is now at a size where I should really consider getting an accountant.

Currently run as a sole trader, but wish to go Ltd - I would be happy to do this.

I have several sub contractors on the books but some of these have made noises about wanting to become employees working only for me (rather than work for several companies), so I would need advice and support in setting this all up. I have no experience being an employer and the legislation/responsibilities that come with it. For this reason, it would be nice to have an accountant that I can actually meet so Norwich based would be nice.

So, any up to date recommendations? Are any of the above still valid?

Thanks

Unless you can find a specific local recommendation, I would suggest searching the ICAEW and ACCA websites for listed accountants. This doesn't mean they'll be any good, but...

Book a few initial meetings and see how you get on with them. Taking on a new client who wants to incorporate is an easy thing to do, so any accountant you decide to go with should be able to explain it well and appear organised/knowledgeable etc.
