Pic of the week: a feast of F40s

A parade of 70 Ferrari F40s is just part of the fun at this weekend's Silverstone Classic - here's a pic to get you in the mood!

If the Goodwood Revival fancy dress party isn't your thing and you prefer an even broader range of cars doing some proper racing, this weekend's Silverstone Classic is well worth a visit. And if you hadn't committed due a (perfectly reasonable) expectation of a washout and F1-style parking chaos then - whisper it - the weather's actually looking OK and organisers are assuring us all the parking is on hard standings and therefore weatherproof.

Cool cars, let's hope the weather's better
Cool cars, let's hope the weather's better
We had been supplied a great pic summing up the breadth of cars taking part in event, including classic F1, Group Cs, 60s tin-tops and more besides. But it's raining in that one and we didn't want you to think that's what's in store weather-wise.

So instead we've gone with another pic from an earlier meet at Silverstone to tease the fact Silverstone will host a very special parade of at least 70 Ferrari F40s to celebrate the car's 25th birthday. A pic of one F40 would have been nice. But we've done a bit better than that!

Tickets and further info can be found on the official site - let's hope that weather forecast is right!

I went a few years ago. Like Goodwood without the crowds and circus attractions. Brilliant.

I went last year and seeing so many E-Types ruined it for me! I don't care if I never see another E-Type again.

Taking my Spitfire this year and really hope that seeing so many F40's doesn't ruin them for me too!

Did Silverstone last year, brilliant. Goodwood Revival the year before, less impressive (unless you like dressing up a bit).

I am going on sunday looking forward to it should be good, I am hoping to see the late 80's early 90's touring cars. I think they are celebrating the Sierra RS500 as well

hmm I thought it was great last year - you can never have too many etypes. Triumph Spitfires on the other hand...

Saw loads of nice VW campers on their way to Silverstone Classic around M40 junction 10 this morning. No F40s, sadly....

Don't get me wrong, I love E-Types and thoroughly enjoyed it too! But seeing so many at one time certainly took away some of their magic for me.

I'd prefer to see 7-800 of the marque being celebrated rather than 10 or 20 - Thats what makes it magical for me.

It'll be great to see so many F40's on track at once as well. I think the most I've ever seen together is 7 and that was a sight...What a noise they're going to make!

the TVRCC will also be doing a parade lap to celebrate a milestone in racing.
