Is anyone here with nationwide, that uses their internet banking?

I have just opened an account with them, and need someone to guide me through the fking minefield that is their internet banking.

It keeps asking me for my 'memorable data', which is fine. But I have three bits of information, and it ambiguously doesn't specify which one to use. Not that it matters, as none of them seem to work.

If anyone has actually succeeded with this, or has any tips, please let me know!

I use nationwide online banking but havent used it in a while, i dont remember it asking for 'memorable data' last time I used it, sorry I couldnt help.

I do agree though it is overly complicated considering it has a card reader system.

Apparently you can log in without the card reader, but it just isn't working for me.

You're not alone, but there are some (obvious) pointers here http://www.kategriffin.info/post/why_nationwide_in...

The site doesn't specify which one of your 3 pieces of memorable data to use as it can be any of them.

If yours are not working then there are 2 options:

1. you aren't entering them correctly
2. your 3 pieces of memorable data have not been saved.

Are you logging into the correct section.
There is a Mysave log on and one for other customers.
on mysave, you log in and it asks you for random digits the mysave memorable name/place/date etc.

Try using it as an expat! Its a "three strikes and you're out" system, and to get back in you have to visit a branch... i.e. travel back to the uk...

I thought that might be the case. I wrote down my memorable data, so I know I'm entering them correctly.

I'm pretty sure they were saved when I entered them.

I'm now locked out of it, so I suppose that means I'll have to go to a branch?

From a quick google search, I'm not alone in finding this system infuriating.

I've been using their system for years-both using the "memorable data" and card reader- without any problems.
Is your card reader not working properly?
I seem to remembert you get "locked out" for 24 hrs but there are helplines you can ring to unlock you.

Not necessarily... but I bet it won't be quick.

Only one of my three works and none of my OH's do.

Something definitely a bit awry with that side of their log in portal.

Nationwide is the easiest of my online accounts to use.

The memorial data is a word, you then put in your numbers and log in.

I was with them, very good service. Then they introduced some stupid card reader. Took me 15 mins to pay a gas bill. I smashed it with a hammer and joined first direct the next day.

Not any help, but have been with Nationwide online for years, not had one single problem via card reader or memorable data.

The app store link should boot up iTunes which did then give me an error message but after clicking OK it took me straight to the app.

Gah!
Sorry if this sounds like teaching you to suck eggs but have you tried searching for it on iTunes and downloading it through there?

I remember all my numbers but ive still been locked out numerous times and everytimg ive had to wait for a new letter and learn new passwords etc.

I dont know why they bother with the customer number, it makes the security flawed as you have to write the number down and have it available. After a while you can remember it but it's not ideal.

First Direct on the other hand is far easier and you can reregister there and then with just a phonecall.

Latest shenanigan from Nationwide was trying to get a new bank card - i had to get it sent to a colleague from my house as i was overseas, unfortunately it got lost when it was sent from my house to my colleagues address so i had to order a new one. Nationwide response, "sorry, you will need to come into a branch and bring some ID" i nearly ripped the phone in half.

Haha that's a good story.

I walked into Lloyd's TSB today and I now have an two accounts with them, and internet banking that works. I have logged on a couple of times today already.

In the words of the Lloyd's employee, Nationwide is a bit old fashioned.
