Evening all,

I've recently purchased a 1960's Tri-ang Vanwall pedal car for restoration so I thought I'd put up some pictures of it from how I bought it to how it'll look (hopefully). I'll also be after some advice on where to get things done (e.g. welding, tyres, etc). Anyway, here's a few piccies. Not sure whether to let my 3 year old son use it once it's finished though..... wink

Cheers

It was for sale at the Classic Car Show at Woburn Abbey on Bank Holiday Monday. As soon as I saw it sat on the grass I fell in love with it and imagined it looking all shiny and new with it's chrome exhaust, bonnet scoop and screen. I've already stripped it down and started to sand off the paintowrk. Have just bought another identical one on Fleabay that I'm also going to restore!

Can anyone recommend a good TIG welder and chrome platers in the Milton Keynes area by any chance please?

Thanks

A few of the latest photos of the Vanwall pedal car restoration project: 1st one showing how well the original seat cushioning has cleaned up.

Next one: Body stripped of all running gear and shotblasted, ready for some panel beating by Gary at GM Bodycraft Milton Keynes:

That's very cool!

I might have to find one and do a Lotus version.

Afternoon all,

Here's the latest photo of the pedal car restoration project. I'm awaiting the wheels, exhaust, air intake, grille and fuel cap to come back from the chromers, hopefully next week. The seat pads are also being re-trimmed by my mate Markus at Paint and Trim so really looking forward to seeing those back on the car. He can be found here www.paint-and-trim.com

Many thanks also goes to Gary at GM Bodycraft in Milton Keynes who has done an amazing job on the paintwork. The body was pretty battered and he's managed to bring it back to life again! Top work Gary!

You can find them on Fleabay every now and again but you never get a bargain on there as there's too much competition. Look to pay between £250 and £350 for one that needs restoring although values are going up all the time.

I had a look at that one and the only thing useable on it is the body. The wheels are non-standard and I think all the chromework is missing like the exhaust and air intake.

Cheers

The finished restoration on the pedal car! I wish I had this when I was a kid! Another one is sat in the garage waiting for the same treatment. However, I'll let my 4 year old son use it first, wait until he grows out of it and then restore it!
