And stirs up the same can of worms that has been kicked around on here for 18 months.

The sound is incredible that's for sure!!

And there can be no doubt how quick it is!

But is it too easy? He said it himself. The arguments will rage on.

'Makes the 997 GT3 feel ancient...'

And

'Once you've tried this engine you'll forget the Mezger ever existed...'

Ouch.

Fantastic review.

Only negative - no manual.

Ummmh, will the new RS be available with a manual for the purists.............

Watch this space I think it might!!

Interesting review. I'm relieved that the steering is way better than on the regular Carrera since this was one of my biggest concerns. It's also interesting to note however that he compared the steering to the 991 Carrera but not the 997 GT3. I'm guessing that we'll see a lot more of the car over the next few weeks ... about time!

Metzger engine was king of the Porsche world in its day (and its reign lasted longer than most) but the game has moved on it would seem. Can't wait to drive one of these but no longer a GT3 buyer - looking for different kicks now.

My immediate thoughts were how many owners of 997 GT3's who've been hanging on for a decent review, will now be ordering this model. If I had the funds and patience to wait for one, I would .

Its still a split camp in that he didn't say he would personally buy one himself and he misses the manual aspect despite the fact its an incredible car.

Personally I think going back to a manual nowadays really does feel out of date and you have to move on with the times.
Not sure that demand will treble as he suggests as the turbo and turbo S have equally moved the game on as well and have even broader appeal if you are in the market for a 911.

Overall good review and happy to have placed order last week
