Bloody hell guys, I go out for the evening and you are all fratching like a bunch of kids.
And no posts in nearly 2 hours.

The plan for tonight was to take the TVR to the motorclub, but due to a combination of my being a bit daft and forgetting how little petrol £40 gets you these days, the ~TVR's prodigious thirst for petrol and its particularly TVR fuel gauge that reads just over half full all the time meant that when I went to start it I realised that it was completely dry.
You forget when you are used to driving a 2.0 diesel that a 3.5 v8 uses a bloody sight more fuel,

Do fk off.

Firstly, I wasn't talking about you, so get your knickers untwisted. secondly, the person I am referring to has had my advice already on the subject. My reference to notdave refers to every step of his life being held back by some minor issue or other.

What a pleasant thing to say to someone. rolleyes

What you said was aimed at me though, or thats how it came across. You were likening me to NotDave by implying that I come on here to whine about my every little predicament. It wasn't a "woe is me" post but rather an update on recent events for people that are interested. I included the aspect of my two jobs so that I could get advice from people that are older than me and more knowledgable.

I possibly did get the wrong end of the stick, but if we are honest your post could be interpreted so many different ways as this thread has shown.
No. there is no confusion at all. The post was not aimed at you one little bit. I'm trying to be subtle here (as I know that's what motivates you best) but I'll try another approach:

For fk's Sake, I was talking about leafspring. You are not leafspring. you are not notdave. you have had two job offers. luck like that doesn't befall people like notdave or leafspring.

do you get it now? I wasn't talking about you.

TorqueR, don't get the hump! LSI was merely giving you shorthand for this:-

"You are 18. You will work until you are 65, probably, if not longer. You have done sales, show talent but don't really like it. You have a chance to gain at least some CV enhancing experience in something you think you will like better. At the worst you will have some experience in your favoured field and possibly a great reference if not a permanent job, if you get lucky. If you take a permanent job in sales now, you may buy a car or take on other committments which will stop you taking a risk in the field you really want to work in, at some point down the line. You will then become a whinging ditherer, hence LSI's comment."

Thank you for posting your perspective. Its appreciated.

If I came across rude, I apologise. I have never met LSI but his posts on this site are similar to the retorts I heard at my previous job from someone that always put himself in a higher esteem then everyone else and made thoughtless comments to others younger than him. Hopefully when/if I meet LSI, he can prove me wrong.

He drove a Saab too, a 2006 Saab 9-3 Aero to be exact.
I fail to see what my car has to do with anything.

Anyway, people from this thread who have met me will back me up when I say that I am not a confident person. I do not have a high self esteem of myself and I am not a bully. I do not, however, suffer fools gladly and if someone is being a fool, I will let them know.

(I hope that was subtle enough.)

Indeed they do.

BTW, if you are wondering (I did for ages) the theme that is played every time Elias Koteas appears as Duncan the skinhead is 'Catch my fall' by Billy Idol.
I saw Billy Idol once when he played Local Lad in Tommy. He was excellent.

(Hmmm. Just looked it up; he may have played Cousin Kevin. He was good, anyway.)

The Who were touring after Keith Moon had died. You could see either Tommy or The Who classics. The classics sold out instantly so after careful consideration I opted for Tommy. It was terrific. At the end Daltrey said, "Now we'll do the old favourites."

That was a great night.

LSI - Oh, looking back I may have jumped to the conclusion that you
were talking about me, sorry.

In my defence though, you didn't specify/quote who your post was aimed at, that is where the confusion arose.

Champhill and I both thought that you were talking about my situation.

The road I live in is called Pyle Hill on our side of the street and Greenham Road on the other side.
I have no idea why. It confuses the hell out of people's sat nav.

The house numbers on both sides are consecutive rather than odd on one side and even on the other and, in many cases, duplicated.

A pleasure but, more pertinently, what's for breakfast?

I had three Weetabix in error. Thinking there were two left I took the wrapper out and threw the box away only to discover there were three!
