Ferrari 250 Tour de France: Time For Tea?

Read Harris's drive of that Ferrari? Good, now you can watch him drive it

If you've read Harris's drive story on the Ferrari 250 GT Tour de France then you'll know he was rather enamoured by it. Beautiful looks, the Ferrari 3.0-litre V12 and a glorious racing history will do that to you.

Now we have a vid of Chris with the car and Max Girardo from RM Auctions. Don't look here for a sideways spectacular, it was a short pre-sale drive granted by a very generous owner. What you will get is that delicious V12, further detail on the car's provenance and a very excitable Harris.

The car goes under the hammer on Monday at RM's London sale with an estimate of £4.1-5.2 million. Worth it? Watch this and then decide!

Enjoy the vid.

Firstly I take my hat off to whoever let Chris drive it. However having said that of course I presume there were some strict instructions and so it seemed a bit pedestrian. I didn't expect drifting but I didn't get to hear the engine enough near the top end.

This is going to sound harsh but I preferred Chris' old 2CV video. Now look at this

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76ktMcCDZvk#t=478

Now that looks a lot more fun. 9 mins 20 in and the slow mo ... heh.

Actually I still think that is the best shot video as well, excellent work.

Now if only I had the money. If you had the money Chris would you buy it? It would make for interesting PH Fleet reports hehe

Sublime. I don't care if Harris wasn't allowed to rev it beyond 4000. Just to see it out on the roads is enough.

A truly wonderful thing. Max the RM guy owns a 250 TDF himself which if you have ever been to the Goodwood Revival you will have seen him slinging around the track with gay abandoned. The man has skills

Fabulous, just like the 2CV video in my view. Characterful cars are always worthy of attention whether they are quick or not. What a lovely Ferrari.

Somehow that conjures a picture of something entirely different from the intended meaning. I hope the chap was ok and found his friends soon enough smile

I need finance...

0% deposit, and a £4,990,000 balloon payment, over 30 years should do it...

Great car nice vid.

I was 2 when this car was built and run as a real race car and considering its estimated value now I would really like to see some modern air filters fitted to that V12 engine if I was going to buy and use this car as it was intended all those years ago.

Otherwise that engine will be fubbered in 12 months.

Likewise! If I'd known Harris was in the area pootling about in that I would have sat in the Barley Mow in Tilford and looked out for it!

Absolutely gorgeous. One can see where the early TVR's got their inspiration from, if only in the looks dept.

A lot of these mega value Ferraris (well, old valuable racing cars in general) tend to have a non-original engine fitted for events and such, to minimise the chance of huge bills or denting the provenance.
In any case, I'd like to think those who look after million pound cars will know if they need a better air filter or not?

The point is it has NO air filters. It was designed for balls out racing back in the day, and was either rebuilt or scrapped after it won it's race, so it didn't need air filters and such . I'll bet that's a lot different from its new owners motoring habits, if indeed it ever sees the road again !

Great video, lovely car and awesome to see it being used properly on a summer's day. I know those roads well, and having just moved abroad to study, and still feeling a bit homesick, this has brought back great memories of flinging my (admittedly less magnificent) little Clio around the backroads of Farnham. This has made my night.

I do hope that RM webstream the auction - I watched the Monaco auction and it was the best evenings entertainment I'd had in years.

The auctioneer, Max, is brilliant!
