McLaren F1 GTRs at Goodwood: Time For Tea?

McLaren's GTR celebration continues with a stunning Goodwood display

Some anniversaries aren't really worth marking. But 20 years since McLaren's Le Mans victory is an occasion that deserves to be commemorated. A lot. So this probably won't be the last time so many F1 GTRs are collected in one place. Hopefully you'll agree this is a very good thing.

This video comes from last weekend's Goodwood Members' Meeting, where McLaren brought together the largest collection yet seen of F1 GTRs. Noise is alright...

In the vid there are interviews with Chris Goodwin, Derek Bell, Steve Soper and Kenny Brack. The latter a man posessing a bit of form with both McLarens and Goodwood! The music is perhaps a little unnecessary at points given that V12 but there's some great onboard and the sight of all those F1s is something we'll never tire of.

Watch it here.

I was a guest of Gulf who were the main sponsor at the '96 (i think) race in Anderstorp, Sweden.
What a great weekend - chatted very briefly with Ray Bellm and the other owner Lindsay Owen Jones but had lots of access to the team including close pit access in practice. Quite a lot of drinks went down on the Saturday night with the Gulf people and some of the team. Unfortunately the race was won by an F40! I think that was one of the very few the McLaren didn't win that year.

On the Sunday evening Ray flew back to Farnborough in his private jet while us lowly guests got a mini-bus back to Gothenburg and the morning flight to Heathrow. I've still got a tin pencil case shaped like the car as a little memento.

Have you attached the link to the wrong video, this is part 1 of a 2 part series from McLaren themselves, none of the 73MM is on here

Good video, but not the one mentioned in the article!
