Went to the Monaco Historic meeting last weekend and saw this parked outside the Fairmont hotel where the Bonhams auction was taking place. The car wasn't in the auction but what struck me was it looked well used which is something I appreciate when I see these type of cars.

It comes up as 1999 but first registered in March 2016 when I check. Correct engine size.

Yes he does have some very nice quite iconic cars that he isn't afraid to use.
I believe he only took delivery of this one last week, this being the car's maiden run from Aberdeen the next day as I remember !!
I also believe it did used to be yellow, but now changed to Cobalt blue which I think looks stunning.
He also posts on here occasionally, so may well post something at some point.

Didn't RM just sell one for about 2.5 million?

I've had a passenger ride around Norfolk in a light yellow one of these. Not that quick but an amazing experience. Suspect you'd need to be on track to really get what they're are about.

So cool - great to see it being used.

Agreed, would be fascinating to know how they drive as a road cars. I imagine in road trim they didn't get anywhere near the R&D the the McLaren F1 did; must be a few rough edges surely!

Saw it all stripped down in Reading's workshop few weeks back. It was being rejuvenated and changing from yellow to that blue. They got it back on the road quick. Looks awesome with and without the body panels.

Yep this, was resprayed recently. Saw the car being loaded off back at Reading yesterday, pretty impressive machine that.

The GT1 was just a fudge for homologation to allow the purpose built racing cars to get through though, I'd imagine the Mclaren F1 would be an infinitely better road car as it was designed as such.

RM's was a converted racing car. This is a proper Strassenversion. A pic and more gen on sales here: https://k500.com/story-item/the-2016-monaco-sales-...

I always preferred the look of the earlier 993 based GT1

Although there were a few crossover cars with fried egg headlights on the earlier body.
I know technically the early ones were not a patch on the later versions, but loved the butch look which sort of got stretched out and spindly in the later cars.

Wouldn't kick any out the garage of course!!!!

Back in the day the 993GT1 race car with spares package was £1,000,000. Imagine turning up for LeMans to find the factory have arrived with the updated fried headlight GT1 and a lot quicker. Boy would you be pissed. The 962 is quicker on a lap

If that was in Norfolk, I believe it's the same car.

As far as utter-awesomeness goes, taking a GT1 for a hoon around Europe the day its recommission was completed is right up there!

I much prefer the yellow rather than the blue car.
