Hi all, after 14 years, the time has come to replace my old Spadas. I'm a short arse (27-28" inside leg) so I was wondering what boots are good and affordable. Daytona MStars GTX with the hidden inside heel look perfect, except for the fact that at 350 I can only afford to buy one of them!

Any alternatives? I prefer fairly plain high boots. I'll probably wear them under my Hood jeans.

Altberg will make you some boots to suit or try EU sites like FC-Moto.de for good prices on Daytona boots, depending on exchange rate you can often save 30-40%

Daytona are about to suffer a price rise too. The 25mm lift works for some, just make sure you can comfortably fit the boot under your shift lever. Some owners struggle.

Being a bit vertically challenged i got those daytonas with a rise a couple of years ago.
Made it easier to put my feet down and flat foot but man were they chunky (as you'd expect). I soon sold them and got some
Sporty looking boots in which i much prefer the looks and the feel of the gear shifter

Whatever you do don't buy Daytonas from any UK suppliers they are stupidly more expensive than finding a decent dealer in Germany selling them. I see the prices are up again but the Roadstar GTX I use are now around the £290-£300 mark from Germany on Ebay now.
I bought my last pair from these guys, this is everything they sell Datona wise, they have other boots too.

I remember when they used to be £200 in the UK, I bought my first pair from J&S, that was a long time ago.

M-Stars seem to be £330 from UK suppliers and £300 from Germany. Not sure if I'd could be bothered with potential warranty problems sending stuff back to Germany to save £30.

Well I've just taken a punt on some M-stars on eBay for 150. Hoping they fit! I'm normally either 7 or 8 and these are euro 41 which believe is 7 n 'arf.

All Daytona boots go back to Germany to be fixed irrespective - I've used their repair service. Granted for just £30 saved I'd question it too. Savings were a lot more previously - I should know.
We're still in the EU for another couple of years at least but the brexit vote stuffed the euro exchange rate thats adding to the lack of savings smile

Seems the OP found some for £150 on ebay.. guessing they are used

not worth the hassle, will cost you that to return them if they dont fit. When I last bought some I saved nearer £90 and I know my size in Daytonas as have others

Again having had 4 pairs of the same boots I know my Daytona size perfectly so could buy without issue. Also yes my savings were in that region too over UK prices.

Yup - been buying dead man's shoes! Well hopefully not. They were apparently used for a tour and not used since. I'll give them a good clean. For those that regularly buy Daytonas, how do the sizes compare? Would you recommend to buy on the small size because otherwise they'll be massive and floppy, on the large size because they'll cut off the blood to your toes, or are they fairly normal?
Good to know there's a repair service, I'm hoping to keep these a long time.

For me I'm a UK 10 and I found either a 44 or 45 Euro fits.. my current ones are 45 which is technically UK10.5, they are a tiny bit looser, but the 44s I had for one older pair were a little too snug for my liking, again believe technically a UK10 is 44.5 Euro size.

Might end up having to wear thin socks then! Well I'll keep my fingers crossed. If not - back on ebay they go!

They're the only multiple year, all weather year round commuting boot that actually is up to the job given the hammering they take and yet they still stay truly waterproof for this time. 16th London commuting year this year.
I've only ever retired them when part of the boot starts letting in water. That's generally between the 3-4 year mark for me. Generally by that time the sole has worn out, the gear change pad is holed. The only true failure was one of the main long zips on my first pair. The single boot went back to Daytona themselves and they fixed the zip for £15.. this was way over 10 years ago though smile From the repair options you can get the whole boot rebuilt it seems - its a bit triggers broom/ship of Theseus and used to be cheaper to buy a new pair when I looked.
