Driver modes for new Ford GT

Five ways to enjoy it ... but no word on delivery date

We have been spoon fed little nuggets of information from Ford about the new GT - so far we've been told it is faster than a Ferrari 458 Speciale and a McLaren 675LT thanks to 655hp and a top speed of 216mph.

Now, it has been announced that the GT will have five driver modes - N, W, S, T and V. Taking feedback from supercar owners whilst developing the GT, it was realised that drivers want to be able to use it in any situation. Who knew?

Normal and Wet modes are for everyday, with a 120mm ground clearance and the ability to soften the suspension and the latter mode muting the throttle response. In this setting the rear wing activates over 90mph. Sport enables the anti-lag system, whilst stability and traction control settings are driver-adjustable allowing for a further three settings. The rear wing now deploys over 70mph, Track mode drops the ride height by 50mm, spring and damper rates are set to their firmest settings, rear wing and gurney flap are deployed. V-Max, as you'd guess, is used to go as fast as possible. Ride height is the same as Track mode but aero elements are stowed away to reduce drag for that 216mph top speed. Launch control is available on all modes bar Wet mode and anti-lag is inactive in Wet and V-Max.

Each mode has a unique instrument cluster, with digital readings prioritised according to what is important. All very interesting. But approved buyers will probably be more interested to know when they'll actually see their cars.

Yep. Deliver the damn car already. All the drip fed information became boring about 5 drips ago.

Stunning looking thing in the flesh, so much detail going on, the more you look the more you see.
