Anyone have advice on how to shorten the length of the anchoring cable,or where I can get it done?

Want the holster nearer the seat top

Not going to say it can't be done just that it should not.
I doubt you will find anyone willing to risk your life or prosecution if it all goes wrong.

You may find an aftermarket seatbelt company with the same latch profile who could supply a replacement stalk but I would just go to Securon and buy a new seatbelt set with the correct length you want. They are not that expensive and I bet your existing recoil is a little tired anyway.

You can do pretty much anything you want to your car... It is your car !

Take a picture of the latch, then measure from anchor to latch release button how long you want it to be, and start searching. There's tons and tons of different sizes seatbelt stalks.

It's probably not safe to modify your existing one, but considering they are so cheap to buy new, I'm not sure why you'd want to!

If the seat belts are the same as the earlier S Series cars we found some Peugeot stalks to do the job or Fiat Punto.........

So first you need to find a manufacturers name on the belts probably on a sewn on label on the belt end.
Or failing that a photo of the end you insert into the latch (with dimensions) then we may be able to advise.

Did you find a manufacturers name?
From that picture it does look like Securon in which case there are many options available.

I've mentioned a few times now that the Securon belt is no good as the stalk is too long.
I was beginning to think that my car was a one off and the mount was in the wrong place but at last someone else has the same problem.
I got mine refurbed at ftds
The Securon ones look cheap and chatty imho
Not much help to you though

Great this company, you have to buy from a shop not direct from them, and they only do in sets,so don't sell holster separate from what I can find out

At 20 quid they're not exactly going to "break the bank"... wink

Just a couple of comments:

The part you refer to as the holster is normally called a Buckle.

I would guess the design of the installation with the buckle so high is a comfort issue as a driver with, shall we say, wide pelvis could find it very uncomfortable to have the buckle digging into the hip.

I would say that unless you are absolutely sure that the buckle is compatible with the tongue on the belt assy you should buy a buckle and belt set.
Even something that "looks" the same may have had some design evolution that means if you match it with the wrong part worst case it it delatches when you need it most.

If you want some good advice you should talk to these guys, they have been in the game for years and I can personally vouch for thier ability and experience.

There is a good chance that they will have some knowledge of what went into the vehicle originally and will certainly be able to guide you in what can be done.
