Anyone had any dealings with these guys

https://www.1pmobile.com/tariff-and-charges.taf

Coverage shouldn't be an issue as I currently use Virgin and that uses E too

Would work well for the likes of my Grandparents, as soon as you add data it's no cheaper than any other tariff on a sim only basis.

Been considering them for a backup phone.

Lots of info here:

http://kenstechtips.com/index.php/1pmobile-review

Only "downside" is the need to topup once every 120 days, regardless of whether you need to or not. Minimum topup is £10.

So it will cost you £30 a year even if you don't make any calls.

If you're looking for a cheap PAYG for very infrequent use, then there are probably better.

Yeah that's what I've got - I strap it to my drone just in case I lose it. I paid less than that though, I think around a fiver from China. Works fine.

I got a 1p mobile SIM for my mum as it was the only thing I could find that wasn't a 30 day rolling sim only contract to replace her ancient Orange SIM when I gave her an old HTC M7 to bring her into the 21st century.

I lobbed £20 onto the account, then put £5 on her phone (you can keep money sat on the account, then it either automatically takes it when you choose, or you log on to the account and push some over). Turned off premium rate stuff and roaming too just in case (although she will never roam).

Does the job, is easy for her to keep track of (she REALLY doesn't understand mobile data, so 1p per mb is easy for her to remember, I put a data counter app on the phone), she can keep track of 1p per min and text too.

Uses EE, so fairly good coverage.

I had a bit of an issue where the SIM took 2 days to register, then the initial fiver did not go onto it, 15 minutes on a facebook chat with them had it sorted, so that seems fine. Plus, if she finds it crap, once the credit is used we can bin it off.

I've just logged onto the account to see how much she's used, and this came up:

Great News

We have removed the £5 per month minimum spend requirement and all your future top-ups to your phone will rollover forever. All we now ask is that you add money to your account/phone at least once every 120 days (4 months). Your next top-up is due on Fri 11 Aug 2017.

As you benefitted from our Double Credit offer the next time you need to top-up could be a long way away (up to a year). We have set this as the date as it is the only fair way to bring you in-line with our new policy and not be at any disadvantage.

We will also send a reminder by email a couple of weeks and a couple of days before your next top-up is due.

All of your unused Double Credit credits and bonus can be found in the Top-up section below. These will still be added to your phone on the dates shown to help you with managning your spend until they are exhausted, or you can put them all on your phone now and they never expire.

It seems you can auto top up too, so link it to a paypal or bank account, then when it drops below £2 it tops up by £10/£20 etc, so possibly ideal for a tracker as you don't have to remember to do it.

Looking at her account, in a month she's used 46p... I must tell her to use it more!

You do see many, many comments under their facebook ads complaining that their bad value for money but for many people it's probably fine, if I put my mum on a £5/month rolling contract she'd throw £4 a month away every month! Would be no good for me as I use about 4gb of data a month, which would be £40 a month, but incase this helps anyone, their possibly the best 'bare bones', no monthly renewal people out there unless I've missed anything.
