Aston Martin DB11 V8: Pic Of The Week

The best we've seen Aston's latest GT look yet

Our Pic Of The Week this Friday is, quite clearly, an Aston Martin DB11. Specifically though, it's the newly released V8 model.

Putting out 510hp and 498lb ft of torque from its twin-turbo 'hot-V' V8, it's capable of 0-62mph time of 4.0 seconds and a top speed of 187mph. More than that though, it's the best looking example of a DB11 we - and seemingly many commenters - have seen to date. Although functional, the 'curlicue' side strakes, clamshell bonnet and (slightly less functional) two-tone roof have always appeared somewhat awkward. Here however the design looks considerably more resolved, the choice of a single colour for the entire car no doubt going some way to helping its cause. Perhaps it's a grower after all!

Best it's looked yet due to the fact you can hardly see it? Unfortunately what you can is still fugly.

Agreed, there is no redeeming aspect in that shot for me.... I like the sciency bit of that vent, but sadly, I'm guessing, legislation about frontal impact stuff has meant this looks bulbous and heavy. A backwards step from the sheer class of the previous look imo.

disagree,. it is beautiful and still carries the essence.
I do agree that the legislation is pushing cars to all be similar in order to be road safe.

On balance were I to be offered one I would be saying YES PLEASE

I'd rather have a v8 vantage looks far better

Reminds me of the leap of faith taken by Jaguar in the XJ design. Both are large departures from their winning formulae, but both, in my opinion, look far more interesting than their visually "perfect" predecessors. For me, it's a bit like a naturally beautiful woman (new versions) and a cosmetically "enhanced" lady (older versions). Just my two cents.

It's not bad, but it isn't beautiful IMO - it's too chintzy and it has too many little details

I still would though!

The DB11's I've seen on the road look better than the two-tone Wedgwood blue press car that did the rounds at launch but not a patch on the Vanquish that lives locally.

Be interesting to see how they mature over the next few years - we'll probably end up loving them - just not there yet and it worries me that we all loved the DB9 / Vantage from the get go.
