RE: McLaren P15 drip feed continues
Tuesday 14th November 2017
McLaren continues to build the hype around its new P15 hypercar, today drip feeding us yet another dark and mysterious image.
McLaren P15 drip feed continues
With the patience of a Brazilian kidnapper, Woking delivers another dimly-lit P15 snap
It's obviously the left rear brake light, with a bit of extreme looking aero above it, some honeycomb below, and a slight Bugatti Chiron vibe about the whole thing. Interestingly it fits in rather nicely alongside the first teaser image of the tri-tip exhaust which we received last month, and some very rudimentary Photoshop skills give a greater hint at what to expect from the rear of McLaren's new Ultimate Series flagship.
There are still no specs - obvs - but we do know it'll be the most "track-concentrated" McLaren ever. If its performance is to be equally as superior to the 720S as the P1's was to the 650, then there's one hell of a car in store. Don't hold your breath though; should the current puzzle piece reveal continue at its current rate, we won't see the whole thing until sometime in 2024...
Discussion
Do manufacturers teasers really have any effect on buyers or marketing generally?
Those who want a Macca P15 will already have seen the prototypes in a studio/clinic, their deposits will have been paid and orders confirmed. Us lowly, poor, watchers from the side, will glean nothing from a spurious shot of a bit of light and a tailpipe.
This isn't the Victorian ages where a photo of a part of a lady's ankle gets blokes (or interested others) rampant!

I'm sure they only do these for the benefit of the buyers or future buyers of 'cooking' McLarens; as you say all these particular cars are probably sold may times over. Those who want a Macca P15 will already have seen the prototypes in a studio/clinic, their deposits will have been paid and orders confirmed. I'm waiting for Yipper... so I know if the P15 is going to be any good. Or not.
Well he's bound to have either had a "quick spin" himself or "knows someone" that has and it will definitely have been "the other week" so therefore before anyone else on here. All of which he will have failed to have mentioned up until now even though he's on here every day.I don't know, anyone cynical would think that he reads an article or thread then makes ups a story to go with it. Not me of course.

There are marketing departments that need to justify their continued existence. Those who want a Macca P15 will already have seen the prototypes in a studio/clinic, their deposits will have been paid and orders confirmed. It's the hyperbole that gets me. I'm sure it will be brilliant, and like every McLaren before it, they will sell and the owners will be chuffed
But come on
"the world will get its first sight of a road-legal track car unlike anything we've built before"
Unless it looks like a Caparo T1. It's going to be very like every other McLaren car since 2010
Mid Engined
"that" TT V8 (or a derivative of)
"that" Carbon mono cell
Dihedral doors (Billionaire doors )
Its not going to have 3 seats afaik, that's the BP23 car.
No need to reinvent the wheel. Lightweight, big power
