Audi RS4s (and RS2): Pic of the Week

All the lusty Audi load luggers in one delightful desktop wallpaper

The launch of a new Audi RS4 is a pretty significant event on PH because, let's face it, who doesn't love a fast estate? There's so, so much more to the RS4 cult than that, however. The B7 version proved that Audi really could make an involving driver's car, both B5 and B8 were notable for being Avant-only (and that's cool), plus the original RS2 was a real supercar-slayer of the early 1990s.

Therefore we could think of no better way to mark the new RS4's arrival - it's pretty good too, as you can read here - than with a group shot of each one. It's like a family automotive photo, except everybody looks good. Alright, maybe orange isn't the best RS4 colour. And only a madman would spec tan leather with white paint. But let's not escape the point: all the fast Audi estates have looked excellent.

Where the new car ranks in that incredible family hierarchy, and against its direct competition, remains to be seen in the coming months and years. So for now just enjoy a collection of Audi estates parked by the sea. You know it's more appealing than that though, don't you? Get downloading!

A lovely sunset shot ruined by a sloping horizon, too much concrete in the foreground and some estate cars.

I'll pass, thanks, although if I had to choose one the original RS2 would do nicely.

Nice pic PH

I could list quite a number of reasons why I supposedly shouldn't like my B5, and they'll probably all get trotted out in this thread shortly. Some are valid, like it's expensive to maintain, and probably more suited to Bahn-storming (which it does do exceedingly well). Others less so, for example there's absolutely no steering feel by all accounts, and it doesn't handle well

But the fact is it puts a smile on my face every time I drive it, and that's why I love it!

I thought the horizon always sloped? Or is the earth flat?

Shame they never did a B6 version, would have looked great if done similar to the B7.
I always thought the B6 was way better looking than the B7 as a base car, despite sharing the same basic shell.

I thought these was about cars in particular the Audi not about wether the background was sloped, up, down, sideways or round who cares!!! maybe some of us should go suggest doing a better job for PH since we know it better... Duh. Incredible how some only see a glass half empty and just can't appreciate a good thing and keep shumpt if nothing constructive can be added. Sigh.

Anyway back the real subject matter, the cars are all lovely, just not sure about the newer cars with the auto tranny.

Inclined to agree, a blue or black estate would be terrific. Yes, please and thank you cloud9

Couldnt have a black avant personally. Too much hearse! Imagine the ribbing you would get from your (probably still jealous) mates.
