Channeling my inner man-child today. Having just sold my Griffith and Tamora, my new Griff 500 project's currently on the back of a low loader and on it's way here.Very excited. Can't wait to get a spanner on it. That said, I may need to get plenty of release spray on it first - it's been sitting outdoors for a good few years!

Yes, it is. It's gonna need a whole lot of love, but we'll get it there. Haven't got it on the lift yet as the poor chap that delivered it almost delivered his innards just getting it off the truck and into the garage so I let him off pushing it up the lift slope! 
Typically I am too busy to look at it over the weekend so it will have to wait until next week until I can get my head under the scary side by way of the lift.

LEE, Looks like it's quite a big project to take on. Why go from 2 Fun Cars, to a Big Spanner Job especially when summer is on it's way!I'll put up pictures as soon as it's back and on my lift!

I know, I must need a shrink! I've always wanted the chance to build a Griff to my requirements and preferences, which is something that I've never really had the chance to do. Sure I loved the modern touches of the Tamora, but the Griff was where my heart is. My other Griff was much too good to mess with and I love a project, so that's where I'm at. Ironically I've recently sent in an article to Sprint saying that I'm keeping them both, but in my defence, when I sent it in I still had both cars! The follow up articles will be about this project, I guess. I've had a good look over the car on the floor and whilst the chassis looks bad and the inside smells like my teenager's trainers, the only thing that concerns me is the amount of orphaned wiring handing around all over the place. I may be ok with a spanner, but I'm no auto sparky 
So it's taken a week before I've had any time to look at the car, but I can happily report that I've finally been able to take a spanner to it! My plan was to get it onto the lift so I can take a closer look and start the body-off process. However, the brakes were so seized that I could hardly move the car around, let alone push it up the lift ramps! That being the case, the first job was to remove the calipers one by one until the thing moved freely. It took three corners before that happened and no surprises given the state of them!
Being one of the later cars, the powder coating is fubar'd!
All being well, I can now get it in the air and spend a well-timed long weekend getting it topless!

Ok, so managed to get the car on the lift over the weekend. Nothing I wasn't expecting given what I'd seen already, but it is very overdue a rebuild!
So far, I have the exhaust off, the radiator out, the fuel tank out, the steering disconnected, the rear ARB off and the seats out. I couldn't imagine trying to do this without the lift, so kudos for those that do. Uncoupling the steering UJ was a b*tch, I have to say, but I got there in the end. Next is to undo the four bolts I've exposed behind the fuel tank and then get inside for the next lot. Hard work given the state of some bolts/clips etc, but fun none the less!
