JCB Sunday Service 19/08

Yes, we really are going to the home of JCB for a Sunday Service - full details here!

We like to be a little bold and think outside the box here at PH... Which is exactly why we've got another brand new venue lined up for our Sunday Service calendar. 19th August will see us heading to JCB's World HQ to have a morning of childish fun, sitting in diggers, and learning the origins of this iconic brand. Think of it as a PH school trip.

It's not every day you get to head to the world headquarters of one of the top three construction equipment manufacturers in the world, so to help understand how a company this huge undertakes its business, we'll be having guided tours - called The Story of JCB - where you'll get a behind the scenes view of what goes on. The tour contains many of JCB's landmark achievements, including the diesel world speed record car from 2006, and 1962's 3C backhoe loader, which took digger technology to new heights. It says here. We visited JCB earlier this year and can confirm how interesting this tour is - Ben and I didn't want to leave! In the car park there will also, of course, be the fantastic array of PHers cars in attendance to gawp at...

To book onto the Story of JCB tour you'll have to contact Sara Morgan at JCB on sara.morgan@jcb.com; however, they have a factory shut down starting 23rd July until 10th August, so bookings will have to take place this week or week commencing 13th August. The tour will cost £5 per person and all profits will be going to charity.

So, if you fancy an unusual but very fun morning out, we highly recommend you coming to join us! Get yourself signed up to the calendar here.

See you there!

Date: 19th August, 2018
Cost: None, but we like biscuits with our tea...
Time: 0900-1200h
Space: 500 cars
Address: JCB WHQ, Rocester, Staffordshire, England. ST14 5JP

Fantastic! The Story of JCB is a great tour, JCB is a truly world class British company and Lord Bamford is a true petrolhead! Well done PH, great call.

The important question being, 'can I dig myself an enormous hole?'

I know it’s standard requirement anyway, but as tempting as it is don’t hoon it near the factory, it’s a wide road for most of it but the people of Rocester are funny fkers at the best of times. They will complain and we won’t be going back again.

Gutted to see the date - now I really don't know whether to go here or to ZedFest in Leicestershire. confused

I've driven past the JCB works a few times when the M6 went into stationary mode and would love to look around inside, as their products have been revolutionary.

Great venue for an SS - well done PH. thumbup

Erm….. I'm getting married at Goodwood on the 18th.... do you think I'll be able to sneak away early doors, have a tour and make it back before Mrs D wakes up?

And if she does wake up before I'm back, is it reasonable to say "too late, we're married now!" ?

Just a quick heads up on the police activity in the area. I drive past the factory twice a day on the way to work.
The A50 directly opposite the factory is currently undergoing some road-works which are a 50mph limit. This stretch of the A50 is always heavily policed and has mobile camera units around. I probably see a mobile unit on one of the bridges or laybys probably once a fortnight.
10 minute drive for me so looking forward to this being so close.

If anyone ends up coming through the actual centre of the village, you will break your car on the speed bumps in anything less than a rep-mobile. Definitely the worst I've ever seen.

At the last Sunday Service I went to registered cars got an email and we had to print it off with our user name and Pistonheads smiley. Must admit it is the only time I can remember it happening - in Garlick’s day it was a guest list on the gate.

Any ideas if we will get an email or need to print anything.

there will be an email later today with a smiley to print off.

Last time names were taken at the entrance by a different PH manager type ,it ended up with a very slow queue and

some very disgruntled members.
