Win the 100,000th Lotus! | Update

The chance to win the one-off Jim Clark Evora GT410 Sport is almost at an end

You might recall that we reported on the charitable efforts to giveaway the 100,000th Lotus built last year. Well, the opportunity to win the Jim Clark Evora GT410 Sport is finally coming to a close, with August 29th set as the deadline for entry. As the name suggests, the competition is in support of the Jim Clark Trust and the money raised in the year-long campaign has helped to build a new museum dedicated to the life and spectacular motor racing car career of the great man.

The site in the market town of Duns originally hosted the Jim Clark Memorial Room, but has now been treated to a £1.6m expansion and will (not coincidentally at all) welcome its first visitors on August 29th with an official opening ceremony. The car itself was commissioned last year to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Clark's death, and has since been signed by all 20 drivers competing at this year's Monaco Grand Prix.

Factor in its unique position in Lotus's own history and a colour scheme which echoes the famous red Elan driven by Clark in the 1960s, and you've got yourself a fairly spectacular prize. One that can be won for just £20. To enter, click here immediately.

While 2018 marks 70 years of Lotus (or at least 70 years since Colin Chapman started building cars), it also represents 50 years since the passing of Jim Clark - arguably the most fondly remembered of all the Lotus F1 drivers. Possibly F1, period.

Now Jim Clark fans have a very special opportunity; this Evora GT410 Sport, the 100,000th Lotus built and designed to evoke Clark's Elan, is being given away in a competition. It's being run by the Jim Clark Trust (so no need to worry about a Lotus competition being organised by PH), with all proceeds from ticket sales going towards a new Jim Clark Museum.

Making this Evora unique are the red paint, silver wheels, silver roof and tartan upholstery, as worn by the 997 NUR Elan back in the early 60s. Clark's signature also adorns the buttresses.

The Clark Evora was actually revealed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Duke of Richmond commenting: "The stunning Jim Clark Special Edition Evora is a fitting tribute to a legendary man and his iconic Elan. Clark's exploits on track were very special indeed and we are proud to launch this competition here at Goodwood."

Construction of the new £1.6m Jim Clark Museum began earlier this month, with the work expected to take a year. Tickets for the competition cost £20 and can be purchased here - the winner will be announced on the museum's opening in 2019. Good luck!

It's been a decade since I won a week in a 997 here. I think barely anyone entered because they all thought it was going to play out like the Elise competition.

We're still going on about it?!

Tempted to enter.. Just read through the T's & C's though..

"In the event the winner does not wish to keep the prize car or wants to sell the car within a period of one year, JCT will have first option and (if not purchased by JCT) Leven Car Company shall have the second option to purchase the car at a reasonable price determined by the purchaser taking in to consideration the condition and mileage of the car."

Is this normal for this kind of competition? Seems a bit fishy that if you decide against keeping the car or the running costs are too high, circumstances change etc etc.. that they could hold you to only selling back them at a massive undervalued figure...

Was certainly the case on the Aston Martin Red Arrows Vanquish S - first refusal for selling the car went to Aston Martin Cambridge who'd commissioned the car if you wanted to sell it within the first year.

Curious to know the spec of the car too - I'm GUESSING it is a 2+2 as it is on the Evora 400 Forged alloys, not the standard GT410 Sport forged items which are only fitted to 2+0 cars.

If this is what they are referring to, some people have very long memories.

I’ve entered and I’m hoping for some good luck, in one week I’ve lost my job, had a huge MtB crash, broken ribs and lost a load of memory to boot. Not sure what the third but of bad luck will be, but I’m gonna keep my fingers crossed for this.
