Jeep Cherokee Trackhawk priced from £90k
More power than an Urus, for a little more than half the price...
The much anticipated announcement of a new Jeep pickup may be the most significant story for US fans of the brand this week, but for those based a little closer to home there's big news too.
That's because the UK pricing and specification for the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk have now been announced. For those who don't know, the SUV features the supercharged V8 engine seen in the Dodge Challenger Hellcat, delivering 710hp and 640lb ft of torque for a 0 to 62mph time of 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 180mph.
UK cars get features including adaptive bi-xenon lights, 20-inch titanium finish wheels, and yellow Brembo brake calipers - which see the 2,433kg car go from 62mph back to 0 in just 37 metres. Inside, 'Trackhawk' embroidered Laguna leather seats are standard, as is a premium metal package which "enhances the vehicle's interior with high quality real metal accents" while plenty of leather and carbon fibre trim aid that cause.
And the price tag? £89,999. Certainly not a cheap prospect, then, with plenty of other very enticing options available for similar money. But for those looking for a combination of size and power, it'll be hard to find a better bargain. Compared to other super-SUVs the Trackhawk's prodigious power output sees it costing a mere £127 per hp, a figure which compares favourably with the Porsche Cayenne Turbo (£180), Lamborghini Urus (£257), and Bentley Bentayga (£296).
Of course, those cars might offer a little more in the way of luxury and prestige, but they won't be any rarer a sight on British roads. Only 20 Trackhawks will be available to UK customers this year, with no word on future allocation. As Andrew Tracey, Marketing Director of Jeep UK, puts it: "There won't be many of these incredible Grand Cherokee Trackhawks available in the UK so, just like the car, customers are going to have to be quick."
So let me get this straight - the brakes caught alight when driven in a 'spirited fashion', not even on a track, yet this is more desirable than a Bentayga or an Urus? The brakes caught alight!?!? How, exactly, do brakes catching alight make it much more desirable!!!??? I'll wait.
Also, interiors:-
First up, the Jeep
Now the Bentayga
And the Urus
I don't know about you but I know the Bentayga pisses on the Jeep, from a great height. To be fair the Urus isn't my thing but I get what they're going for.

In the lead is the "interior quality" argument, but closing at the rear and ready to break is the "SUV's too big for UK roads statement" an ageing runner but, still up there.
Soft touch plastics statement in, 3 . 2 ....1
Powerful jeeps are nothing new but I went with the Cayenne when faced with buying a powerful SUV in the US. OK, I only have 420hp but it’s enough for me. I’m not taking it to the drag strip or track. If that was my plan I’d buy a lotus and lose 4 stone.
I cant see the Jeep being very popular in the UK and neither can Chrysler as they have limited the number to 20.

So win the Euro buy this an spend a bit extra on a retrim an its job done. If they actually wanted to sell more should have pushed top speed up even if it took 7 miles on an oval the figuer would have led to more sales
Mental, mental thing. Love it!
