The Huracan drift car | Pic of the Week

A drift car going sideways is predictable, so what about with a Dakar truck jumping over it?

Even amongst all manner of debuts this weekend at Goodwood, the new steed of drifter Mad Mike Whiddett will stand out. It is the #NIMBUL, a Lamborghini Huracan drift car (with a Liberty Walk bodykit), which is not something you see every day.

This being a Red Bull project, the Huracan wasn't going to be launched without some considerable fanfare. Hence the 'Red Bull'room Blitz' fil;m you can see below, with Mike and his Lamborghini tearing around the Goodwood estate. Well worth watching if you've not already, and with some special significance - it was at last year's ball that Whiddett met Stefano Domenicali, and the first discussion was had about the Huracan project.

You'll notice in there a pair of special guests: Dakar winner Eduard Nikolaev and his amazing Team Kamaz Master truck. We've featured these amazing vehicles before, and they're no less stunning a spectacle in the confines of Sussex. Lamborghini and truck together make quite the sight, and now it's been taken another step further with the truck jumping the drift car. But of course.

So even if they might not be your favourite motorsports, it's hard to deny what an amazing picture the two cars make. Absolutely ideal for a new wallpaper, then - download below!

The jump is CGI.. and really, really awfully done. I thought RB had the budget to do a bit better than this.

It's probably for safety and insurance reasons, but come on. If you're not going to do it, then don't try to fake it.
"Even" Nitro Circus did it for real with motorbikes and trucks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVwkFVsrv1k

What makes you think it’s CGI?

The jump is real, but they have coloured the dirt ramp into grass in post, which gives it a slightly unreal look.

Perhaps the OP has used 'CGI' in the wrong context - my initial thought was that it was two shots (each vehicle in isolation) composited to put both vehicles on the same timeline, but on re-watch I am not so sure - based on the approach shot from before the jump.

Either way, it's just a bit of fun.

Maybe I'm getting old but I thought that film was a pile of turd. Each to his own though.

Boring rubbish. It's like a kids idea of cool....which is all well and good, but sadly it's like a kid was in charge of actually filming it.

His Huracan was pretty boring to watch compared to the old RX7 tbfh too.

What a miserable bunch PH is becoming..."it's CGI" ....." Kids filmed it" ...FFS it's a laugh. You don't often see a Lamborghini doing silly stuff, you don't see a KAMAZ truck anywhere so
