I am seriously thinking about placing an order for the Taycan Turbo.

My OPC is saying that they are taking orders aready, and Lead-Time will probably go the 18mths by the time the car is actually available in January.

Anyone here pulled the trigger yat>

Yep - standard model. Delivery estimated march 2020. Massively oversubscribed and should lead to cost negative motoring for 6-12 months due to lack of supply. Not locked on spec yet as the dealers are not doing their training till November and they are currently unsure as what is or isn't needed for a decent spec' vehicle. Never thought id have an electric car, but ill give it a try for a bit

I have a Taycan Turbo arriving around March..Spec submitted but not locked..Will probably go with either Gentian or more likely Volcano..Sticking with the standard 20'' wheels as the 21'' ones reduce range by a whopping 10% and reduce aerodynamics from 0.22Cd to 0.26Cd..Undecided on the full glass roof as it has no cover blind plus i rather like the RS aping double bubble aluminium roof..
It'll be a very cheap car to own if you take advantage of all the tax reducing perks plus £3.5K subsidy..

I’ve placed a deposit...my OPC tells me it doesn’t have allocations yet. They’re expecting 60 cars next year and has more deposits than that a couple of weeks ago. I think a lot of deposits are for the lower spec models. I am not sure if you ordered a Turbo S that the motoring would be that cheap (unless you get to incentives)...£150k is a lot of money for a car like this...cheaper ones will be rock solid.

Are people really queuing around the block for this £130-150k car?!

TX.

As I said in my post above I don’t think they are for the Turbo S. The inference from what the Sales Exec at my OPC said was they have a lot of people that have placed deposits but not many want a Turbo S. Harry Metcalfe tweeted the other day that “launch edition” Turbo S’s are £160k...

Whilst I’ve read excellent initial reviews, and Porsche are very thorough, this is still an all new car with a lot of new and evolving tech.
At this price level, I would prefer to wait until any initial issues and customer development has been done before committing.

Spot on!
Some of the competition car owners have had troubles getting issues sorted.
I was amazed in california how many were on the roads.
Just look at secondhand prices of these cars, and as its PH favourite subject, they will fall like a brick i suspect.

I think the early adapters (I was one once!) will be able to command invoice back on PX for circa a year, after that who knows?

Think it may be more, ‘if sir signs here, there’s a good chance of GT Unobtanium, but obviously we can’t guarantee’ that’s driving the market for these. Dangerous game financially in current climate IMV.

As far as I can see the current high end electric car buyers are all company directors taking the benefits of the purchase, usually on 3 year deals. That type of person won’t want a second hand car, will they not need it to be new? With the advances in tech even the Taycan will be out of date in 2 years, then it will be worthless. Just my opinion.

The current focus by most manufacturers though is not to focus on advance tech in next few years, but to convert the existing models to EV.

So his Taycan won't be new and shiny in 2 years, but imagine it won't be worthless!! 2 years isn't that long for loads of new advanced cars to both be designed, and also available without a huge lead time.

Well I think it would be crazy to buy one cash, I would only risk leasing.

A two year old iPhone will loose about 70% of its value, I don’t see a tech laden car being any different personally.

An i8 BMW would be a fair half way house comparison, high tech, supercar perception and early adopter hybrid drivetrain, how are residuals on these?

Other than the 'big whoosh' and premium badge I don't think they've cracked this yet.

If I had the money I'd buy a Tesla SUV tomorrow, not saying they've cracked it, but it does enough to suit me whereas an Electric Panamera doesn't.

Maybe this will help. https://www.bmwblog.com/2017/02/23/why-is-the-bmw-... or this https://www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-reviews/long-ter... the traders i know try and steer clear of used electric and hybrid

Many want a Taycan, because they want to seen in a Taycan. And they know that the status symbol experience/ownership of the first porsche EV has a cost to it.

Its a toy to give the owner joy. It isn't being bought to do motorway miles in for a sales rep.

Otherwise they would buy a old 911 which is (currently) keeping its value.

They were supposedly carrying out dealer training late September in Majorca (Alcúdia area) someone on the Alcúdia Facebook group took a picture of the all lined up and asked the question why they were out there.
