Morning All. Just had a quote for a second car on same policy and found that no claims isn't considered for second vehicle. is that normal?
sort of takes the point away. Any recommendations for better ways to insure? extra £1k for a £3k vehicle seems excessive.
I think my main query is - is the NCB applicable only to one car at a time? Apologies if this is all the bleeding obvious, just wanted more experienced thoughts.

when we got a 2nd car we found a broker that would mirror the ncb from the other car , after a year the new policy is showing the same ncb so move on wherever you like

I previously used Greenlight to insure both my vehicles and they mirrored the NCD between the two cars so can be done

Like you OP, I had always assumed that NCB was simply an indication of being a careful and competent driver, which would apply to all policies you may have. I was sad to find out that this is not the case, and that they are like discount coupons and you have to decide how many of your NCB years you want to use against which car.

Unless you can find a company that mirrors it of course.

Try for mirroring, also input on a comparison site and put in zero ncd and tick the own another car, it's not always much different if you are of an age.

Lot's of insurers take the pragmatic view and give a good quote because of the NCD you have but don't officially state all of it or perhaps give you 3 years etc etc. It can be helpful (perhaps too late for you) if your current car is close to renewal as going to a new insurer with both cars can help to get you a good price on both, anything midterm and they think (and sort of have) got you by the proverbial's!

NO, it's an indication that you've had a policy for a certain people of time and not claimed. You might have had several accidents, but just not claimed.

If you do earn bonus on 2 policies, and you claim on one of them, you keep the bonus on the other policy.

That is all very useful. Gone with the expensive version to get car on road but have 14 day cooling off period to shop a little more. Thanks all.

But you have still had an accident that you have to declare to your other policy's

Policies....and yes, they have to be declared on all policies. But it won't affect your ncb on those other policies.
