BMW S 1000 R and M3 | Pic of the Week
When two and four wheels join forces...
The only thing potentially cooler than a drifting car is a drifting motorbike - ergo, both things together are the coolest thing ever. Fact. Which makes our latest Pic of the Week - featuring a BMW S 1000 R and M3 in smoky tandem - a serious contender for the best-of-2019 shortlist.
The 165hp (at 11,000rpm!) two- and 431hp four-wheeled Beemers are apparently part of the brand’s Australian (of course it’s Australian) driving experience fleet, which customers can pay to sample on track for $1,395 per day. Included in that is tuition and demonstrations from factory drivers/riders, so you’re likely to come away with greater awareness of the product’s potential - and with a ruddy big grin on your face, too.
Obviously most of us are on the wrong side of the planet to take part in all this sampling and experiencing (although if any of our Australian readers have done so, we’d love to hear about it) but we can at least enjoy it at a distance. Of around two feet from our desktops…

Though I will definitely be thanking Ares for his post - because having read the other guys response....... I'm pretty much stunned at the level of pedantry he has sunk to with it. I guess he must be feet away from BMW M3/M4's and S1000R/RR's on a daily basis!
As for your video mate, I'm sure it is great (and I'm not being an arse about that - I'm being serious!), but I'm actually a race bike instructor at that very track I'm standing at, having only stopped racing myself 3 years ago (though I still have 2 race bikes that I use for training/fun - Suzuki GSXR1000 and Triumph 675), and so I just really couldn't be arsed even watching a video of myself racing, never mind watching someone else (and again, I mean that with the greatest of respect - I've no doubt that it is a good one!). Funny enough, I'm also a Ducati man and once had a TC rep 996 years ago - top lad (met him in Philip Island around the same time).
Did you get a chance to take the M4 around Mondello yourself? Say it might be a bit of a handful there
If you're going to make it a mini-break for a few days, then it's absolutely worth the trip, as you can take in some of the roads then also on the other days (if coming over on road bikes). There are some bloody cracking roads over here - would be more than happy to have lads (and ladies!) join us for our 'religious' Sunday Spin up The Wicklow Mountains. (*Disclaimer* Has absolutely nothing to do with religion - only bikes, great roads and a cracking breakfast half-way up! Haha!). I love the track because it is such a technical one - a lot of corners with some off-cambers thrown in: each corner can have a couple of different lines to take, so even though it's great training for newbies - it'll test more experienced riders too.
