Lamborghini Aventador SVJ gets Novitec treatment

Well, of course it needs it...

We didn't think it was possible - or possibly necessary - but Novitec has turned the wick up on the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, a car we know to be a literal flame thrower and still (officially at any rate) the fastest production machine at the Green Hell. The German tuner claims to have enhanced the 770hp V12 supercar's performance with a comprehensive range of new parts, including a freer breathing exhaust system and firmer springs, as well as carbon fibre aero pieces and new wheels and boots to unlock more grip from the track focussed Italian.

Novitec's new twin-pipe exhaust system ups the V12's ASBO credentials by binning the standard restrictive flaps, so the 6.5 can sing and cough out fire without interruption. The system also brings genuine performance benefits thanks to its freer gas flow, helped in part by the use of a 100-cell catalytic converter, along with a weight saving of up to 19kg when the raciest setup is fitted.

 

Accompanying the louder vocals is a dose of added visual aggression, provided in part by the reduced ride height enabled by new springs, along with a number of carbon aerodynamic pieces, including a new front splitter, skirts and a larger rear diffuser. Novitec claims to have enhanced the SVJ's mechanical and aerodynamic performance with the new bits, with the firm having used a test track and wind tunnel to fine tune the parts. And remember, this was already a car capable of a 6:44.97 lap around the 'Ring.

The final piece of the SVJ Novitec puzzle are those 20 and 21-inch wheels, designed and produced in house to reduce unsprung mass. They're developed to work with Novitec's springs, which are adjustable and work with the SVJ's standard-fit adaptive dampers so you can retain its selection of EGO chassis modes, albeit with a harder edge across the range thanks to the increased spring rate and those skinny Pirelli P-Zeros.

It's the upgrade list nobody thought was necessary on Lambo's mad supercar, but for the sort of people who love the SVJ, it's got to be a tempting selection of goodies. We dare you to watch the video below and now agree with us...

Madness ! As the age of the internal combustion engine draws slowly to a close, some really crazy cars are coming out. Peeps, the writing's on the wall, the curtain is closing.....let's get on with it. I love the sound of a well tuned engine, on the road and on track but you can't fight the inevitable, time's almost up
