Nurburgring Monopoly out in time to ruin Christmas
Fancy arguing with your family over 'Teammeeting' and 'Boxenstopp' on December 25th?
We all know that the penchant for ridiculously niche special editions isn't limited to the automotive industry, Monopoly's had a seemingly countless number over the years. At long last, however, the two have combined in one perfect petrolhead board game. So if the first present on your Christmas list this year wasn't an English-German dictionary, then it should be, because the second present ought to be this.
The German-language Nurburgring-themed Monopoly set has launched in the world-famous track's homeland just in time for Weihnachten, but there's no reason why natives alone should enjoy it over their festive cup of Glühwein. Not for British players who know their stuff, at least.
Properties such as Old Kent Road, Regent Street and Park Lane have been replaced with the likes of Bergwerk, Pflanzgarten and Karussell, while railway stations make way for prominent grandstands. The curveball Chance and Community Chest cards are also rebranded here, represented instead by 'Teammeeting' and 'Boxenstopp' coupons, which seem self-explanatory enough.
Those are all joined by a whole new set of figurines to play with. The likes of a wheel gun, race car, tyre, helmet and trophy giving parents and children alike yet another thing to argue about over the holiday period. The game is available now on the Nurburgring website, giving the whole family the chance to conquer the Green Hell for just €44.95. We'll see you out there.
