Bathurst 12-Hour | Pic of the Week

Daytona last weekend, Bathurst this; motorsport is very much back in business for 2020!

Mount Panorama could host an OAP walking event and it would still be worth watching - the circuit is just that good. So when the very best GT cars and drivers make their annual pilgrimage to Bathurst, it's a must-see for sportscar racing fans around the globe. See the final 20 minutes of last year's running for proof of why.

With the Liqui-Moly 12-Hour returning this weekend, then, it only seemed right to dedicate Pic of the Week to one of the world's most spectacular endurance races. This specific shot is looking down The Esses, with one of the BMW M6 GT3s chasing down a GT-R and Bentley Continental GT as the sun sets. It's the iconic Bathurst scene, and the perfect desktop wallpaper update for 12-Hour weekend. The race starts at 5:45am GMT on Sunday; with Bathurst 11 hours ahead of the UK, that sounds like Saturday night is sorted. Enjoy!

Not wanting to be a pedant, but I think that’s the sun rising, not setting. Have driven Bathurst and that angle from Skyline is looking north east.

That would also explain the lack of any noticeable tyre debris off the racing line ("marbles") as the race wouldn't be that old yet.

Last time I set POTW as desktop background was about 6 or 8 years ago.
