Alfaholics GTA-R 300 gets carbon body

Just when it seemed the Alfaholics GTAs couldn't be more desirable!

You know you're onto something good when a product release of 94 words and a few pics makes the headlines. But such is the way with Alfaholics; its reputation as purveyors of the finest restored 105-series Alfas around is so good that it could launch a line of branded stationery and it would get coverage. Probably.

It's latest news is very exciting, even by the exalted standards of Alfaholics: full carbon body panels. Look superb, don't they? Nothing like a good carbon weave fire the imagination on a Wednesday morning. Of course, the new panels do more than just look so good unpainted you might just leave them that way - they save weight. Lots of weight.

For a steel-bodied Alfaholics GTA-R, the new parts will save 70kg, which is significant in a car weighing about a tonne. Even for the flagship 290 GTA-R, which already comes with a carbon bonnet, boot and doors, the additional carbon saves 38kg. Handily, it pushes the claimed power-to-weight of that car up beyond 300hp per tonne as well, hence this build being the 300 GTA-R. Spicy.

And that's kind of it for your Alfaholics news. Super desirable reimagined classic Alfa Romeo gets even more desirable again. And, presumably, more expensive as well. Especially so for this particular build, because it's getting Alfaholics' new 'Ultraleggera' billet titanium suspension, for even fewer pounds on the scales and just one or two more on that bottom line. But, good grief, you would if you could, right? Those after some inspiration should check out the completed build page on Alfaholics website and prepare to be amazed...

If I had a reputation as the purveyor of the finest of anything, I'd insist that anyone writing copy mentioning my name took a course in Year 3 grammar.

You're not even consistently right or wrong. Why didn't you just copy & paste the 94-word press release for us?

Arrrrrrrrrrrgh!

Fixed that for you...

We are delighted to launch an exciting new development to our Alfaholics GTA-R build programme; a full carbon fibre body panel conversion, which saves a huge 70kgs over a steel-bodied GTA-R. It also represents a significant 38kgs weight saving over our existing range-topping GTA-R 290, which already features a carbon fibre bonnet, boot and doors, thus giving a new power to weight figure of just over 300 BHP/tonne.

This build will integrate all our latest lightweight components such as our GTA-R Ultraleggera billet titanium suspension package for further weight saving and suspension geometry optimisation.

70kg weight saving doesn't seem like much.

Oh my word.

Assuming my numbers drop on the lottery I could be left with an absurd dichotomy, to paint, or not to paint, that is the question...

Price on the normal GTA-R builds are something like 240k

Wonder what this one would be, 4-500k?

Insanely cool, anything Alfaholics is incredible and this is no exception. Applaudable they have the skills, confidence and clients to create something as amazing as this.

Pity they dont show the price but I'm guessing you would need a few lucky numbers on the lottery to buy a car like that...

Beats me. Guy a few posts above reckons 240k.
Only way I'm in is if that's 240k dong
Beautiful though!

What historic event is going to allow a carbon bodied car to enter ?

I saw a steel bodied 105 on Tour Auto last year ,had no paint on it.

Saw it mentioned on a restomods comparison youtube video by a car magazine (comparing Alfaholics GTA-R, JIA Jensen and Tuthill Porsche 911)

Said the Alfaholics GTA-R 290 package starts £240,000 and you supply the car yourself.
