It is with great sadness that I have to inform members of the news that Norman Farmer AKA 'TVR Gerald' passed away last weekend.

His wife Christine wanted me to let the TVR community know, as he was a well known Pistonheads forum member who offered great insight and advice to all who needed it. He famously carried out a full nut and bolt restoration of his 'S' (Gerald) and even manufactured a few parts that were an improvement on the factory parts (not hard!!!) and made them available to members.

I myself contacted Norman when rebuilding my 'S' and found his experience and knowhow invaluable, making my build go an awful lot smoother than it could have been.

Please feel free to leave any stories of your dealings with Norman, as I'm sure a lot of you will miss him and his readiness to share his wealth of knowledge.

Very sad - I did speak with him when I was looking for my car and he was trying to sell Gerald. A proper Gentleman.

That is sad news.

I met him once when he was breaking up an old S3. I remember him well and he was a very nice chap , bought a complete dash off him for my V8S.

When we drove into the drive there was a AC Brooklands Ace parked up.

That is very sad. He was SO helpful when I first got my S and we worked together on researching alternative parts. A gentleman. Good to see many remember him so fondly, on here and Facebook

This is such sad news. I had the privilege of owning Gerald, his maroon S2, for 5 years or so, and the car was a credit to him. He was very helpful to me when I was buying it from the interim owner, and whenever I had any queries. Very fastidious owner, car had stacks of history, all the previous owners' details and a box full of documentation. I was always going to drive Gerald up to see him but sadly never got round to it. Had to sell the car a couple of years ago as I just wasn't using it enough and I'm afraid it is out of the country now, but it was always Norman's car.

Lovely chap - mt condolences to his family.

Never good to read. I remember Norman for sorting out remanufacture of the infamous indicator lenses. He also took a look at my S2 at RAF cosford as the engine was amongst the tattiest there to offer some help and advice. One of the sages on the S forum and a very sad loss. God bless you Norman

Oh, so sad to hear. I met Norman back when he was organising indicator lens and fuel cap re-manufacture. What an excellent fellow, a true gentleman. I can only agree with all the other compliments expressed above. Condolences to his family.

Best regards, Jonathan W.

Very sad, grand bloke. Helped me no end with helpful advice with my S1 build.

Last time I visited him was to pick up a chassis I purchased off him. The two of us loaded it on my Audi for the 250 mile trip home

As others said above, that is very sad indeed.

Norman was a really great chap, as adept talking to those of you who are expert with spanners as he was to people like me who made him smile with complete lack of ability.

A really nice and and a sad loss.
