Anyone happen to know what the latest map version is please? My PCM 3.1 (2016 car) has V 4.76 and wondering if an update is available?

Thats not the map version thats the headunit software version as far as I am aware V4.76 is latest.

Maps I think 2018/2019 was latest.

Does the update to 4.76 not also include an update to the maps to the latest version or do you need to do the 2 separately ?

I think the V4.76 was included on the 2018 map update discs IIRC.

OK, thanks very much. Not worth spending ££££'s updating the maps just yet then.

The updates come on CD's and take several hours to install, then have to be authorised by an OPC

There might be a newer update available now. Even though the ones I had were the "latest" they were about 4 years out of date.

I was never that impressed with the navigation on the PCM so I installed a CarPlay board in the PCM 3.1. Maintains all PCM functions and adds wireless carplay. Mine was bought on Alibaba for about $300 a couple of years ago. Installation requires removing the PCM and adding a PCB. Not much more difficult than building a PC.

Any links to the kit ? Sounds like a plan

I have the JoyAuto version. There are many videos on how to do it. I also found a thread on renlist of people doing the install. It seems the box get frequent updates so mine will be different to the one you end up with.

Have been following a similar thread on 911uk.

Was about to pull the trigger at the JoyAuto prices but PCM3.0 (2010 997.2) doesn't look to be supported unfortunately. The options that do cover this are a good £100 more.

Will wait until next year.

That's a good price if you're brave enough to take the unit apart to fit it. Supply/fit in the UK is c£700

I did the install myself relatively easily. The vents can be a bigger to get out if you haven’t watched the video. My PCM has NAV, duke box and something else so it’s a tight fit but it does go in.

Follow the videos and use the forums and you should be OK.

does anyone know if the aftermarket carplay kit gets flagged on the dealer system when the car is serviced etc? I know techincally if under warranty it could theoretically void it, but unless you were looking physically you couldnt tell.

No idea about warranty. I am in the US where the dealer is not allowed to be a prick about honoring the warranty. When I bought my Cayenne it had Nankang wheels of death and missing service stamps as the person I bought it off had their own garage. In the first week the CEL came on which immediately made me wonder why I had got a bargain. I took the car to the dealer and asked them how much trouble I was going to be in with my wife and they assured me the warranty would cover everything and gave me a Macan GTS for 2 weeks.

Turned out the issue was with a wiring loom in the front which Porsche US required replacing even though the dealer wanted to repair. Tyres were replaced with ones that didn't spin in the wet from 4th to 5th gear.

Back on topic, well almost, I don't have an affiliation with Joyauto even if it sometimes sounds like I am on their payroll. For me, CarPlay has transformed my experience of the car day to day and has meant I have kept it far longer than any other car.

I dont think it would flag warranty. unless they opened it up.
