Lotus Elan M100

So competent it's almost boring!? Ten years on the Elan M100 might force you to question what you want from a sportscar.

Shouldn''t be above read ''Romano Artioli''s Bugatti''? Always been a fan of the M100, they still seem to fetch good money on the used market. Keep up the good work. Yours in pedantry, GH

I own an M100 and love it. Very good article and review. I agree with everything that was said. Someone once said to me the M100 is like Marmite you either love it or hate it. My congratulations to the author.

I find it amazing you had ones with poor build quality. Every review I have read about the M100 said that it had a good reliability. I've had an M100 for over 4 years with no problems at all. You must have been very unlucky.

I've had my m100 (s2) for 4 weeks and the passenger window has already become stuck within the door :-( [not to mention the glovebox lock coming out while the key was engaged and leaving the contents locked away - the hazard warning lights refusing to disengage - the rear lights constantly blowing the bulbs...]

Regret my purchase?? Not a chance - It's a fantastic Lotus and I love it!!!

A little late to the party but...............

Everything you've said about the Elan is true. However, there are some very easy ways to turn this fabulous car into the performance monster it should have been. Many owners have easily upgraded their horsepower output from the stock 165 (or so) to well over 200 with some simple and inexpensive modifications.

Drive this baby when it puts out 200+ hp and see what it can do...............

Now, now, Rob. Just 'cos you've got the Excel now, you can't have forgotten the fun of an Elan with greater than standard power.

Hey there Elanlover.

You anyone I may know?

Big meet going on at Donington again this year. I'll probably have my hard on to show off!
