Spyker C8 Laviolette

Spyker is to build the car used by Sharon Stone's Catherine Trammell in the recent movie Basic Instinct 2. It will be a limited edition series of the C8 Laviolette and the cars have the identical features of the original movie car (chassis number 015). Only 25 cars will be made of which 20 have already been pre-sold. It's the first time Spyker has ever made a limited edition.

The C8 Laviolette is a two-seat coupé sports car with an aluminium construction and glass canopy designed to be reminiscent of a modern jet fighter. It has an all-aluminium Audi V8 engine with a power of 400 hp, a top speed of 187 mph and an acceleration of 0-62mph in 4.5 seconds. The car used for Basic Instinct 2 has a jet black exterior, a lipstick red interior, a turned aluminium dashboard fascia and is fitted with elegant 19-inch Aeroblade wheels in magnesium featuring five propellers.

The price for the Limited Edition version is €254,950 (£177,000), ex-factory, excluding taxes. The car is available in both left and right hand drive form.

Like all Spykers, the Spyker C8 Laviolette is completely hand-built and custom-built by only the best craftsmen of our time using bespoke materials. This spectacular performance car combines state of the art technology, unique design features and engineering excellence.

The Spyker C8 Laviolette has been fully US certified since June 2005.

Pity about the half side-windows. Spyker’s always remind me of expensive gentlemen’s watches that you advertised in the glossy magazines.

Don't doubt that it is not better than the first film. I always liked the matching hers and hers black and white Lotus Esprit’s in the first film. Pity the black one thought it could fly.

Exactly, going from making bespoke cars 1:1 to making a limited edition series doesn't really make it more exclusive, does it. The wonderful world of marketing eh?
