Dutch hide sneaky m'way cameras

Armco-mounted devices lurk for the unwary

none
none

We hear through the Porsche Club Osnabrück Weser-Ems (see link below) that the motorways in the Netherlands are now stuffed with cameras.

Take a look at these pics and you'll see that the cameras, built into the roadside Armco, would be all but invisible in normal driving.

According to sources, the Dutch authorities are using a new types of camera that  are -- allegedly -- capable of checking not just speed using radar and infra-red, but also distance to other vehicles, under- and overtaking.

These are built into the Armco and are almost invisible (see photos).

The Porsche club has sent us a long list of camera locations but it's a bit mangled so rather than post incorrect information, we'll run it up in this story if we manage to get hold of a cleaner version.

Beware...

Reminds me of the quote from Austin Powers: The Spy who Shagged Me (1999),Nigel Powers (Michael Caine) "There's only two things I can't stand in this world. Those who are intolerant of other peoples cultures... and the Dutch".

Bit of duct tape would blend in nicely.....
Difficult to believe a camera mounted low down on the central reservation could measure all those parameters across both lanes of the carriageway. Are there induction loops as well?

Oh no! THIS IS NOT TRUE! The photo's aren't even taken in the Netherlands (most of the electricity and telephone-lines are underground). If I'm correct even the list that got sent along is false. The distances between the locations on the list are completely off.
Every now and again this list is used and accompanied by a new set of photos/spy shots. THIS IS A HOAX!

P.s: the Dutch government will be implementing digital speed cameras. No flash and direct processing of the fine.

This is a hoax!

According to the German Elise Forum, where this topic has been discussed last year, this is:
- a laser system made by CES CG Switzerland, called LMS-05
- the pictures are taken by Swiss police of Waadt
- the device shown is located in Morges.
- approx 20m in front/behind a camera is needed on a post
- the device is not legal in Germany or Austria
- can be detected by Valentine 1 and LT-400 using Firmware >=2.7
- doesn´t work on speeds > 200kmh 125mls ;->

sneaky action (cause)can only invite sneaky reaction (effect)- is there any problem with simply blocking the line of sight of these things?

I was the one who received this and passed it on to PH.
The cameras are NOT the swiss ones, I see those every day, the so-called telephone lines are NOT tel lines they are train overhead power lines in the photos...
All I can say at this stage.... but checking again.....

The photos do look a bit to rough round the edges to be real/unedited.

It's not a Dutch motorway for sure, although the railway catenary looks similar to what the Dutch railways use it's more likely Swiss...
