PistonHeads Classifieds

PistonHeads launch a new look classified section

Over the past few months, PistonHeads has been working hard to make our already highly effective classified section even better.

Today we launch the new and improved service, which is designed to not only help you sell your car quicker but it will be much safer, too. We have implemented a host of new security measures to combat fraud which should discourage scammers and make PistonHeads an even safer place to sell your car.

One huge benefit of PH Classified is that it is free. This will of course continue, but we are now introducing the option to pay £7 for a ‘Premium Advert’. It will have a number of benefits such as more pictures and 'on top' positioning.

The ‘Standard’ advert will continue, which means there is still an option to sell your car absolutely free on PistonHeads.

What’s more every registered user (registered before todays launch) will be entitled to free premium adverts

So all those who have supported us over the years (or even days, if they are newly registered) will get a free premium advert whenever you want one. Trade adverts will stay exactly the same as they were before.

We hope the new system will work for you and we will be monitoring its effectiveness over the coming months.

Thanks for your support.

Nice idea, I prefer using this system to AT etc personally. Good to see you keeping it free to the original standard too, seems as though most companies would decide to bump a pricetag on anything they offer as a service these days.

This new system appears to have lost my previous advert. I just went through the re-registration process and found no adverts to manage. banghead

The system automatically matches the email address you use to register and pulls in the old adverts. If either the email address is different, or the advert is over 60 days old then it will not be able to pull the advert into the new system.

ETA: I have just had a look in the system and it appears your advert has gone over 60 days and has been automatically archived.

Good old Alastair Darling, the car market is sooooo slow.

Is it possible to un-archive it, or do I have to re-submit it?

We will be looking at the search feature in the next phase to see how we can improve it

I am looking to put in place an un-archive feature in the next week, so if you can wait that long then I will get it so you can un-archive yourself middle of next week.

Like the move not to charge us old addicts for a premium advert. A company looking after it's old members!

Is there a pie surchage instead smile

Yes indeed. Loyalty seems stronger for new customers in the banking and mobile phones world. PH is to be commended for this decision.thumbup

I prefer advertising on PH to anywhere else. By linking my profile hopefully prospective purchasers can read through any history of the car I've chosen to share. Certainly when buying the Cerbera this was the most important aspect of my decision to buy that particular car, which is why I only advertised it on PH when I came to (sadly) sell it.

It's good to see that adverts are remaining free for private sales.
I have always prefered the layout of the P.Heads classifieds, they are far superior IMHO.

I recently, (two weeks ago) sold a car on here in 5 days... clap which i was well pleased with!

Thanks, I can wait for the un-archive.

Agreed. Very good move to retain existing goodwill, while still cashing-in on the increasing popularity of the site. Nice idea...

It's a top service, odds on you know that the cars you are looking at will be looked after, I sold my Alfa in under 24 hours!! can anyone beat that?

Could I suggest an 'RS' and 'ST' sub forum on the Ford listings? I really dont want to look at dozens and dozens of non perfomance Fords for every RS car on here.

We are going to look at the categories across the classifieds in the next few weeks to see how we can differentiate them better and we will certainly look at doing this.

Any news on having the ability to search for 'Rear Wheel Drive' when filtering??

It'd be REALLY useful for those of us not exactly sure what car we want next..

Won't premium adverts swamp the normal stuff since there are so many people already registered?
