Having changed my mind over and over I have decided to play sensible (Was considering a 335d touring) and bought a very nice E46 330d touring auto (Only a second car anyway).
The question;
It's a 204 BHP model. What recommendations does anyone have for the miriad of tuning devices available on the market for them? You know the ones....The 10-20% power improvement ones.
Any to avoid?
Are they all pretty much the same thing, but with a different label and price tag?
Bring it on redface)

any to avoid...tuning boxes. i see no reason to buy a tuning box when a decent one will set you back about the same as a remap and a remap is the way forward. replacement panel filter and a remap wills ee you more than right mate. doesnt relaly need much more performance after that

DMS Automotive and Evolve offer some really good re-maps for your car.

Don't bother remapping the Auto, the tranmissions can't take it, ignore what anyone else says.

Safe limit on these engines is around 260 bhp - they are capable of 300 bhp with just a remap but how long they'd last is another matter....

The Autos actually handle more torque than the manual boxes so I wouldn't worry about that. There are plenty of remapped Autos around with no problems to mention.

The safe limit thats tried and tested yeah?

I know of 325d with 300bhp in europe whose transmissions have survived many track days.

Very immature comment. I just wondered what you were getting at.

Then you post something like that. Whose the retard now.

It's not the transmission that's the problem though... the turbo will give up fairly quickly at 300 bhp.
