New 'Grand Bentley' Teaser Shot

The boys at Crewe celebrate 90 years with sneak peak at new model

Bentley is marking its 90th anniversary today by releasing this latest teaser photo of its upcoming new model.

Bentley has yet to reveal the name of the new four door saloon whose muscular shoulder we are peering over, referring to it only as the 'Grand Bentley'.

An all-new Bentley is a pretty unusual event, with the last completely new model being the Continental GT back in 2003. (We think!)

According to Bentley, the new car is designed to capture the spirit of the 'Bentley Boys', the famous group of wealthy businessmen, sportsmen and inheritors who brought the brand fame in the 1920s, winning Le Mans four consecutive times and racing throughout Europe.

The new car is designed to evoke this legacy and to excite real motoring enthusiasts, says Bentley, which also promises real technological innovation and comfort.

The company has promised to reveal the real name of the new car, along with the machine itself (conveniently) on 16 August in Monterey, California, at the Pebble Beach Concours D'Elegance.

Looks awesome! No doubt this will be the start of a long and tedious series of teaser shots of the new car. All of which will be shot from obscure angles in bad lighting....... Oh joy.

Looks like a '66 or '67 Chevy Malibu! (No bad thing though!)

The front light treatment looks 'orrible in those photos. It looks more like a Chinese faux Bentley or a Japanese Mitsuoka. Then again it's a pretty ropey image. I think and hope, based on the limage of the front wing that the smaller lightis set into the curve of the leading edge of the wing and somewhat behind the main unit. It should make it loook somewhat better.

Some of the finer details such as those in the teaser shots are exquisite, but if those photos in car are anything to go by the overall product will be horrible.

Pity because I'd like to like Bentleys, but the recent stuff just holds no real appeal for me.

Not sure about those front lights, would look better if the smaller ones were higher up.

I have massive affection for Bentley, even if the current Continental leaves me cold. But,I hope that these photos are somehow not the finished product, looks like a cross between HRH's latest limo an LTI TX2 and a mid seventies Chrysler Cordoba. Why not just stretch a Brooklands and add a couple of suicide doors? And is the Phantom/Maybach market where Bentley should be anyway? The Arnage had the150/175k niche pretty much to itself.

So they are going to produce a experimental lash up built by a bunch of slightly potty drunk public schoolboys

Fantastic

They aren't are they

Its going to be another big passat

Its going to be hugely competent, fast, quiet, efficient, luxurious and utterly utterly dull

It looks...

Promising? Gorgeous lines right behind the door. Very 'Cuda like, or any muscle car.. Which is weird for a Bentley.

Nevermind. Saw the front. Tragic.

Looks stunning from the teaser shot, looks st from the front.

Hope they do have something different to unveil though.

Still, will be a proper powerhouse when released....

You are all assuming that some dodgy photo taken out of someone's pocket (highly illegally and immorally in my opinion) is the best way to judge the style of the car?

I personally will wait for the official release at Pebble Beach where the car will be finished and not half assembled.

I bet when the professional photos are taken and people actually DRIVE one it will allay most fears that it is a "big passat". That phrase is used despite continual quotes from Bentley of how special the new Arnage has to be and cannot be a VW group car!

Either way, it looks better than the back of the new XJ!!!!
