I'm applying for a job with Aston Martin at the moment, and I was wondering if anyone worked for them already? If so, any advice and/or info you could give me about working for them would be very much appreciated!

Many thanks in advance,

Dom

I did for a while and still have daily contact with guys there.

What are you applying for? There is little available at the moment.

I'm applying for a 12 month marketing graduate internship - their website says they're taking a load of graduates on in 2010. I was just wondering what it was like to work there, any info/opinions etc?

Cheers!

OK, so your name is Dominic , you live in Berkshire and your birthday is 25th June - not difficult to find that out, was it ?

You express the opinion on a public forum that a prospective employer is in severe financial difficulty.

You better hope that no-one from AM reads this forum - otherwise your CV (which will be easy to spot) is likely to go straight in the bin, don't you think ?

That's a bit harsh, he was only agreeing with what someone had already said, he didn't say anything derogatory It's also no secret that AM are not having a smooth ride at the moment which seems to be the story of their life.

Anyway, you can learn a lot from working in a company that is going through change to save itself.

Good luck with your application, sounds like a great opportunity.

I'm astonished that someone can turn a genuine request for help and info into something negative - it's the job of my dreams for a company I've always loved, hence I wanted to find out more and do anything I could to help better my chances of getting the role. Yes my name is Dominic, yes I used to live in Berkshire and yes that is my birthday - if anyone from Aston Martin is reading this then hopefully they'll see that I want the job so badly that I'm doing any background research that I can rather than taking offence to the fact that they're not doing as well as they have been in recent years (something which I've written about in my application!).

Many thanks for your help,

Dom

And any company you apply to these days is likely to be supprised if you don't do some checking arround about their financial help, infact if you don't ask they may even wonder what you are upto.

You've got to be careful. While applying for and doing jobs at Jaguar Land Rover I never directly mentioned what I was doing there or what I thought of the place in public. T'was a good job as a guy I worked directly with also used PH.

don't be so fking silly.
Of course they're in financial difficulty. I'd question the intelligence of any potential employee who hadn't worked that out.

Good point - most people would understand instinctively what is OK and not OK to post on a public forum.

Moron.
Care to expand on that? How does that make me a moron?

That's OK, I have to admit I love a one word put-down and found it amusing even if I did think it was aimed at me.

Hope your day gets better.

Possibly true.

However any employer that only employs people who fawn over them wouldn't be worth working for. The fact that some companies really would chuck your CV in the bin over this shows what creeps work in some HR departments.

How horrible would it be in five years time to realise that you'd transformed from someone who had some integrity to a spineless yes man, smilling and nodding and singing the praises of every lurch towards a corporate cliff edge.

pilbeam_mp62 has a valid point - You should bare in mind what is said in a public place.

In relation to this though I reckon they'd be doing him a favour by chucking the CV in the bin for such a comment (Who'd want to work for a company that judges people so quickly?)... but yes, you can see the point.

Sometimes the truth hurts - but especially in business it could be exactly what they need to hear in order to survive. I for one would not wish to surround myself with "yes" people and smoke blowers!

Marketing internship.....If you don’t get on at Aston, try applying to Mclaren. I know they are developing a marketing structure and its a great place to work if you are young and like cars.
