Geneva: Porsche 911 Turbo S Returns

Full-house 911 turbo edition offers 530bhp and all the kit

Porsche has chosen Geneva to show off its ability to clearly understand what every owner wants - more power please!

Yup, the all new 911 Turbo S has appeared at the Geneva motor show, all 530bhp of it. This all new 911 variant has 30bhp more than the 'standard' 911 Turbo, as well as most of the toys that are options on the regular model.

The extra boost gets it to 62mph in 3.3seconds, to 124mph in 10.8seconds and on to 195mph. It also comes with Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes to make sure you can scrub off all that speed. If you need to, that is.

You also get Dynamic Bending Lights, 19in RS Spyder Design Alloys with a central locking nut, a PDK gearbox, sports seats, cruise control... You name it, it's got it.

The Porsche 911 Turbo S will hit showrooms in May and should retail for £123,623 in Coupé form and £130,791 in Cabrio guise. Either way, it's about £21k more than a 'standard' 911 Turbo.

Fantastic piece of kit.

But if you were to spend that much on a 911 I'd want something a bit more GT-3 / 2 or RS for my money.

Im sure that it is a fantastic piece of kit, as quick as anyhting and really well made, but it just doesnt float my boat at all.

993 GT2 looked amazing, as did the 964 turbo s, but this just looks too plain for my tastes. And whats with the wheels, they look like a cheap aftermarket set.

Only my tastes though, before getting shot down

Better colour and those RS front wing track widening trim pieces and spacers it would look subtle but good, and its def quick enough.

I wouldn't say no to any of them, the Porsche is quicker in a straight line though, perhaps 2.9s 0-60?

It would be a hard choice for me between the R8 and 997, the Nissan is actually too good for me as an average driver around the bends, I wouldn't do it justice. Also, it is huge; everytime one passes me by it looks humongous, especially in length and around the rear.

Defo Quick....bit bland though...maybe that suits turbo buyers though...the more extrovert guys buy the GT3's, etc..?

Am I the only one a bit bored/bemused by the sheer amount of different 911 variants?

Nice but you would have to have really bad small c0ck syndrome to buy one over a standard Turbo.

Yawn...........

For that money Aston martin V12 Vantage please, so much more special, heck even an R8 is more special!! Porsche for all their engineering ability need to create a car that is £100k special and this simply isn't. Come on Porsche, the games moved on and you have been caught resting on your laurels!!

Funny you should say that but to me the Astons, although very good looking, all look samilar, and they also look like some Jag's for the obvious reasons.

What you mean that Vantage that looks like a DB9 that looks like a Vanquish? That kind of design and engineering? As for R8s, well for me, they are boring looking. I wouldn't have this 911 for me the pinnacle of prosche engineering is the RS but this is still a decent car but I see what you mean it doesn't look special enough for the price tag, perhaps a lot more spoilers on it and some fancy bling wheel would make it look like ti deserved the price tag rolleyes
