I used to own this.....
A 1959 Mk1 Herald fitted with an 1147 engine instead of the original 948 (by previous owner). The car was originally purple and white but the photo is prety much how I bought the car and swapped it for a Morris Mini Cooper (replica). If anyone has any information on the cars where abouts now let me know.
I was planning to make a historic rally car and thought a 59 even though it wasn't original or a coupe' would be a shame to spoil or risk damaging so I used the Mini for a while instead.
Now I have bought this.....

1965 C with a 13-60 bonnet? Could be a 12-50, a stock series II 1147 or a hybrid of some kind. Now I don't feel guilty at all for the chop job I have planned.
I had only glanced at it and thought it was a G reg. Will get my first proper look tomorrow when I pick the old girl up.

Good luck, let us know how you get on, what the car actually is and (more importantly) what mods you plan.
I seem to remember spinning mine a few times (once on the Hagley Road, Birmingham swerving to avoid a car pulling out)

So the new "Van of Death" did its job...
..and as well as giving me a craving for Guinsters pies got the Herald home.
Structurally the car appears to be solid with a few holes that need filling for M.O.T, the out riggers are fine as are the sills but the bonnet needs a bit of adjustment to close. The engine fired up at the first turn of the key and made that "Old Car" smell. The back box has had it but the pipework looks to be fine. The suspension could do with a strip and rebuild purely to tidy things up, it all works just fine and no knocking on the test drive. The diff' is a bit louder than I remember but it's an afternoons work stripping and rebuilding one of those. The gear box and clutch work just fine the clutch does slip a bit but that's probably due to the car being stood up for five years more than anything. The brakes work and the hand brake is fine as well but again will be rebuilt or upgraded at some point. The wheels don't match and need new rubber for the M.O.T so will probably be replaced. The interior is really good considering, the carpets could do with freshening up and the seats are in good order. The seat belts will need replacing though. The Webasco roof works but need recovering.
I'll test the lights and things later on but first I need to give the car a wash and see just how bad the hand painted bodywork is. Three layers of green over the original white so far.
I think it's safe to say the kit car idea is shelved as the body doesn't look to need as much work as I anticipated. Basically the car's too good to ruin and too practical to turn into a two seater without a boot.
Finally for today the 65 or 69 mystery is solved. The car is indeed a 1969 13-60 with....

..someone has pushed a polishing mop too hard on the tailgate and roof.
