Pic Of The Week: Ferrari 458 Italia

Any old excuse to post a photo of a pretty Italian...

We'll freely admit that today's pic of the week is more than a little bit gratuitous, but we never promised that POTW was always going to be topical.

If there is a tenuous link to topicality, then it's to celebrate the fact that we've managed to get our grubby mitts on Maranello's latest piece of automotive wonderfulness - the 458 Italia - for a few days (though needless to say we won't be doing much of this sort of cornering).

Editor Chris-R will no doubt further enlighten us all (both here in the office and out there in the real PH world) when he delivers his review of the car, but for now suffice it to say that few cars have generated more excitement at PHHQ than the 458.

There's also a bit of a PH exclusive, here. Due to the current unpleasantly cold weather, Ferrari has now fitted its press car with winter tyres, and we are the first media-type people to try out the Pirelli Sottozeros.

Look forward to the review (incl your verdict on the P Sottozeros). I had them fitted on my V12 Vantage and must admit that they are great tyres in the damp and cold and hence much better than the P P-Zero Corsas during the colder months).

Not a good angle for the 458 (the car, not the slide) - makes it look disjointed and out of proportion a la Enzo.

It's a photo from Ferrari. All media have access to use it.

Great shot! Love that yellow one you had on the PH Facebook fan page too.

No, messy background, confused lighting and the car is static. The professional pic is a much better composition but then it is a pro-pic.

Fantastic photo. I can report the car is quite easy to get to that attitude... wink

It's a fantastic machine, and practical too with good cake holders.

Some pics from a week in NI on their fantastic and deserted roads:

Agreed, I've been looking forward to reading about winter tyres on PH.

Ah ok,
It was originally taken for Auto Express, as that's one of the road test team driving it.

Are the "Cup Cake" Holders capable of restraining 2 large double choc chip muffins when the little button marked "launch" is used to full effect??? wink

Now then guys, anybody got a shot of the 458 in Giallo triplo strato, grey sport rims and sport sill covers in body colour - then it really looks the business, but those factory options do add 22,000 quid to the sticker price!
