Pic Of The Week: Aston V8 In Iceland

Aston art and the PH Open Season collide in frosty fashion

At the inauguration of the very first PistonHeads Open Season it's only fitting that we all decorate our desktops with a suitable image, and they don't come much more suitable than this.

Some (potentially more fortunate) PHers may already have seen it, because the image has been pinched from Aston Martin's 2009 model-year V8 Roadster brochure.

This week's object of our communal heart's desire is photographed next to an icy looking lake in er, Iceland - we're reliably informed by our friends at Aston who kindly volunteered the image.

Photographer Rene Staud gets the credit for the arty interpretation.

Good choice, but I can't help but think...

Is the car REALLY well lit, by a very skilled photographer, or is the car shopped into an admittedly beautiful back drop?

Ahhhhhhhhhh! So he's the chap that took the incredible picture of the Vanquish S in Onyx Black. I've been after that picture for years!

That picture looks like a poor phot shop, amazing car and awesome backdrop but poor shop job.

As said the backgrounds and car are typically shot seperately. Then they are merged together and have an absolute ton of retouching carried out. So not really a true photograph in any meaningful sense. More an electronic collage of elements.

Yep - doesn't look right. No tyre tracks and car seems to float.

Mind you could be my eyesight - I saw VW EOS when I first looked at that photo.

Sorry i'm not keen on that, love the car but i think the shot is pants, off to one side, the car IS the picture otherwise leave it out.

Photoshop and lack of front number plate makes it look slightly unfamiliar

That's cheating it is an official brochure from Iceland for the 4.7 launch.
I think my one real world one is better
