As far as I can tell they are both physically the same size.

One is a 3 watt W3W. The other is a 5 watt W5W

W3W is possibly a common American size. What kind of car is it for?

Beaten to it

One more stupid question.... consequence of using a 5w, when it should be a 3w?
Your bulb will be 2W brighter than it should be. None, basically. biggrin

Gotcha cheers.

'Wedge 5 watt' makes sense I guess smile

Its for a Jeep, so the American angle is correct.

It will draw more current.
Current drawn = power divided by voltage
On a 12V system the 3W draws 1/4 amp. The 5W draws 5/12 amp
