Pic Of The Week: Aston Martin AMR-One
Aston, Gulf, Le Mans, beating the diesels. The dream starts here...
We're going to go out on a limb here, and suggest the new Aston Martin AMR-One at first glance isn't quite 'pretty'.
Focused, aggressive, purposeful, honed - edgy even. And with some terrific stand-out design details like those shark-infested side vents. But not pretty, like the V12 coupe the factory entered at Le Mans last year.
So let's hope this new image reflects the sense of unrelenting purpose needed to get Aston back to the front of the grid at Le Mans.
And keep looking at this picture, because the harder you look, the prettier the AMR-One gets. It's all in the details.

How utterly underwhelming.
I don't get how people can say that stuff like this is 'underwhelming'?! it is a purpose built race car, it might not be pretty but it certainly isn't underwhelming!

I'll upload it when I can.
Very unlikely to win LM, maybe class: stunning looking car this.
PRESS RELEASE
ECURIE ECOSSE TO STAGE INTERNATIONAL SPORTSCAR RACING COMEBACK WITH ASTON MARTIN
28 FEBRUARY 2011 - 25 years since they won the C2 World Sports Car Championship, legendary Scottish team, Ecurie Ecosse, is set to make a major comeback in 2011.
A driver line-up comprising of Alasdair McCaig, Andrew Smith, Joe Twyman and Oliver Bryant are set to contest The Total 24 Hours of Spa in July 2011 with Ecurie Ecosse as a partner team of Aston Martin Racing in a DBRS9 GT3. Ecurie Ecosse will sub-contract the running of the car to Barwell Motorport, a highly experienced and successful Aston Martin Racing Partner Team, and will be contesting for outright honours in the race which sees GT3 now being the top class as a result of a recent format change.
Team boss Hugh McCaig, who is behind the return and intends to use the 24 Hours of Spa as a stepping stone for Ecurie Ecosse to return to Le Mans, commented:
"This is a very exciting development for Ecurie Ecosse. I have been looking for an opportunity to take the team back into sportscar racing for some time, but the overall package had to be right."
I was having a chat with one of the drivers earlier in the week. He says there's some very clever stuff going on under the skin. I'm looking forward to learning more over the coming months. I'll concur that it's not as good-looking as the previous LMP1, but the fact that a petrol Aston Martin is taking the fight to the diesels over a full season is reason to rejoice in my books.
