Remember when the Rover 75 was shown at the NEC in 1998? When it made the Jaguar S-Type look a bit naff, and when there was genuine optimism about what Rover could achieve with its new executive saloon? Don't forget, either, that this was the car that would replace the 600 and the 800, both of which needed it.
The car was decent, too, a fact not lost on PHer 'itcaptainslow'. Having admired the two 75s which provided family transport when he was a young lad, he's now been able to swap a 106 diesel for this fine specimen of a Rover.
It's no ordinary 75, either: a T-plate means it's quite an early car, in fact a pre-production model according to its owner. As a 2.5 V6 Connoisseur from this time, it came with the lovely Serpent wheels, but weirdly for a range-topper it did without a CD changer. How times have changed.
Having paid very little for such an immaculate example, things are looking good for itcaptainslow and his big Rover. With cambelt, spark plugs and transmission fluid now refreshed, the car should be mechanically sorted; next on the list are an infotainment upgrade and xenon lights.
Less than a month into the thread, we're hopeful that there's plenty more to come from this PHer. Click the link below to get involved!
