MG6's true background
it's already won praise for being a lively steer and this sporty image is getting a further fillip with news that an all-new MG team will be contesting in the BTCC. This is no token effort either, the driving line-up headed by none other than Jason Plato, who'll be joined by Andy Neate.

Underpinning the effort is established BTCC outfit Triple Eight Engineering, best known for its work with Vauxhall. Sponsorship from Tesco underlines quite how seriously the new team is being taken, MG's new owners very much putting their hopes on a revival of the old race on Sunday, sell on Monday ethos that's always been at the heart of tin top racing.
BTCC boss Alan Gow has given the new team an enthusiastic welcome, saying "This is fantastic news for all the fans who follow the BTCC." He continued, "MG is one of motoring's truly evocative names so its BTCC campaign will, I'm sure, really capture the public's imagination."
Developed under the Next Generation Touring Car rules Gow has spearheaded in an attempt to revive the BTCC, the turbocharged MG6 GT racer has been teased in a rendering while Plato and Neate have had their team unveiling beside the regular road car, Plato for his part saying ""It's really exciting to be involved in a brand-new all-British team and it's just brilliant that the iconic name of MG will be back on the track."
