Sports cars of yesteryear were temperamental and occasionally tried to kill you if you pushed too hard. But were considered to have a personality or character that needed to be respected to be enjoyed. Think of old Lamborghinis or Porsches - if you got a little too courageous the car could quickly put you in your place.
Our obsession with numbers and lap times may have made cars faster and more complete as a package. But that same obsession has also caused the very same sports cars to feel inert at low speeds, whereas something older feels special and requires a little more work.
