While PH has looked a little like SUVHeads recently, it goes to show just how popular the breed is. The manufacturer launches a version, then probably a coupe derivative, followed potentially by an even faster one, then the aftermarket gets hold of it. Quite where the demand keeps coming from, nobody's sure, but it's shows little sign of stopping...
Accordingly then, German company Dahler has got hold of the BMW X3 M, and its Stage 1 work has produced some spectacular numbers. Say what you will about modern turbo engines, but they're fantastic news for tuners. From a standard 510hp and 443lb ft for the X3 M Competition, this Dahler car is now producing 610hp and 561lb ft from the most basic tuning package. With the limiter removed it's now a 186mph car, with 0-62mph taking less than four seconds. Imagine what it might be like in the M3 and M4 that will share the X3's S58 engine...
There are an array of parts available from Dahler to help contain the power, from new wheel and tyre combos to exhaust systems. There's a new suspension kit on offer, too, though given the comments thus far about the X3 M's ride - "not too compatible with rough or broken asphalt" is one of the more polite - that might be worth staying away from.
Dahler's upgrades are available now for both the X3 and X4 M, with the promise of Stage 2 power gains and more cosmetic bits to be following soon. Then the cars themselves will surely be facelifted, and the journey begins all over again. Still, given there are already delivery mileage Competitions with £15k off, perhaps it's just the car to spend a little more on making faster...
